Impact of sea wave stochastic characteristics on ship propulsion control system design.
PublicationWybrano do rozważań (symulacji komputerowej) 8 rejonów morskich w 4 porach roku.

Potential degradation of norfloxacin using UV-C/Fe2+/peroxides-based oxidative pathways
PublicationThe removal of norfloxacin (NOR), a widely used pharmaceutical and emerging water pollutant, was studied using UV-C and Fe2+ catalyzed peroxides-based oxidative processes (e.g., UV-C/Fe2+/H2O2, UV-C/Fe2+/S2O82− and UV-C/Fe2+/HSO5−) and compared with UV-C and UV-C/Fe2+. The UV-C and UV-C/Fe2+ degraded NOR to 38 and 55 %. However, use of peroxides, i.e., H2O2, S2O82−, HSO5− with UV-C and UV-C/Fe2+ promoted NOR %degradation to 75,...

Vertical motions damping model test of a lifeboat lowered onto a flat sea surface
PublicationThe article presents the experiment’s results of the lifeboat model lowered with an initial speed and then released to fall onto a flat water surface. The purpose of the research is to determine the trajectory of the vertical boat motion and describe it with a mathematical model. This is closely related to determining the damping factor since the vertical motion is damped and the lifeboat gets balanced and stops moving after some...

Hydrogen Production from Energy Poplar Preceded by MEA Pre-Treatment and Enzymatic Hydrolysis
PublicationThe need to pre-treat lignocellulosic biomass prior to dark fermentation results primarily from the composition of lignocellulose because lignin hinders the processing of hard wood towards useful products. Hence, in this work a two-step approach for the pre-treatment of energy poplar, including alkaline pre-treatment and enzymatic saccharification followed by fermentation has been studied. Monoethanolamine (MEA) was used as the...

Block Conjugate Gradient Method with Multilevel Preconditioning and GPU Acceleration for FEM Problems in Electromagnetics
PublicationIn this paper a GPU-accelerated block conjugate gradient solver with multilevel preconditioning is presented for solving large system of sparse equations with multiple right hand-sides (RHSs) which arise in the finite-element analysis of electromagnetic problems. We demonstrate that blocking reduces the time to solution significantly and allows for better utilization of the computing power of GPUs, especially when the system matrix...

Joint Analysis of National Eco-Efficiency, Eco-Innovation and SDGs in Europe: DEA Approach
PublicationThe growing complexity and intertwining of different socio-economic issues both in individual countries and internationally mean that single-theme analyses do not consider all the relationships and thus have cognitive limitations. Therefore, studies that combine several research areas are increasingly common in the literature to clarify the connections and relationships. In this study, considering the sequential nature of the...

Modelling of two-component turbulent mass and heat transfer in air-fed pressurised suits
PublicationIn this paper the modelling of an important industrial problem is addressed, which involves the two-component turbulent flow with heat transfer that takes place inside protective clothing. The geometry of the flow boundaries is reconstructed in a CAD system from photogrammetry scan data. The overall model is sufficiently realistic to allow, after validation, design improvements to be tested. Those presented here allow the reduction...

Mercury in the Polish part of the Baltic Sea: A response to decreased atmospheric deposition and changing environment
PublicationOur review of the literature showed that since the beginning of the socio-economic transformation in Poland in the 1990s, the downward trend in Hg emissions and its deposition in the southern Baltic Sea was followed by a simultaneous decrease in Hg levels in water and marine plants and animals. Hg concentrations in the biota lowered to values that pose no or low risk to wildlife and seafood consumers. However, in the first decade...

Numerical instability appearing often in this kind of analysis motivated the authors to present some studies based on numerical tests referring to convergence problems of finite element analysis as well the applied stability conditions. The analysis is carried out on simulations of shell dynamics with the where the...

FEM analysis of earthquake-induced pounding between two buildings modelled by shell elements

THE USE OF FEM FOR DETERMINATION OF RESONANT FREQUENCIES OF CIRCULAR SAW BLADES WITH INDIRECT TEETH IN GULLETS
PublicationUnderstanding the dynamical properties of the circular saw blade is necessary, since, there is a really need for a stable work at working rotational speeds, which are determined by frequencies at which the circular saw blade tends to vibrate. It was observed that the resonant frequency depend on the circular saw blade shape, a collar diameter and on saw’s teeth shape. In the presented work an attention was paid to the effect of...
