Influence of local bush wear on water lubricated sliding bearing load carrying capacity
PublikacjaOne of main problems concerning water-lubricated bearings is their durability. There are known cases of bearings with life time measured in decades, and some, whose refurbishment was necessary just days after start-up. Obtaining stable fluid film friction plays key role in the durability of these bearings. Unfortunately, their load-carrying capacity is limited due to water's low-viscosity. The conducted experimental...

Local buckling and initial post-buckling behaviour of channel member flange - analytical approach
PublikacjaThe local buckling and initial post-buckling behaviour of the cold-formed channel member flange is investigated. The governing nonlinear differential equation for axially compressed columns and beams undergoing pure bending is derived using the stationary total potential energy principle. The critical stress and initial post-buckling equilibrium path is determined by means of a perturbation approach. The results obtained allow...

The hydrogen bond network structure within the hydration shell around simple osmolytes: Urea, tetramethylurea, and trimethylamine-N-oxide, investigated using both a fixed charge and a polarizable water model
PublikacjaDespite numerous experimental and computer simulation studies, a controversy still exists regarding the effect of osmolytes on the structure of surrounding water. There is a question, to what extent some of the contradictory results may arise from differences in potential models used to simulate the system or parameters employed to describe physical properties of the mixture and interpretation of the results. Bearing this in mind,...

Effect of Sinusoidal Corrugated Geometries on the Vibrational Response of Viscoelastic Nanoplates
PublikacjaThe vibrational behavior of viscoelastic nanoplates with a corrugated geometry is a key topic of practical interest. Accelerated Gradient-Based Optimization of Antenna Structures Using Multi-Fidelity Simulations and Convergence-Based Model Management Scheme
PublikacjaThe importance of numerical optimization has been steadily growing in the design of contemporary antenna structures. The primary reason is the increasing complexity of antenna topologies, [ a typically large number of adjustable parameters that have to be simultaneously tuned. Design closure is no longer possible using traditional methods, including theoretical models or supervised parameter sweeping. To ensure reliability, optimization...

Arithmetic Loophole in Bell's Theorem: Overlooked Threat to Entangled-State Quantum Cryptography
PublikacjaBell’s theorem is supposed to exclude all local hidden-variable models of quantum correlations. However,an explicit counterexample shows that a new class of local realistic models, based on generalized arith-metic and calculus, can exactly reconstruct rotationally symmetric quantum probabilities typical oftwo-electron singlet states. Observable probabilities are consistent with the usual arithmetic employedby macroscopic observers...

Akaike's final prediction error criterion revisited
PublikacjaWhen local identification of a nonstationary ARX system is carried out, two important decisions must be taken. First, one should decide upon the number of estimated parameters, i.e., on the model order. Failure to make the right decisions results...
