Impact of Microphytobenthos Photosynthesis on the Characteristics of the Echo Signal from Baltic Sandy Sediments
PublikacjaThe understanding the influence of biological processes on the characteristics of the signals backscattered by the sea floor is crucial in the development of the hydroacoustical benthic habitat classification techniques. The impact of the microphytobenthos photosynthesis on the acoustical backscattering properties of the Atlantic sandy sediments was previously demonstrated by Holliday et al. (2004) and Wildman and Huettel (2012). To...

Independent dynamics of slow, intermediate, and fast intracranial EEG spectral activities during human memory formation
PublikacjaA wide spectrum of brain rhythms are engaged throughout the human cortex in cognitive functions. How the rhythms of various low and high frequencies are spatiotemporally coordinated across the human brain during memory processing is inconclusive. They can either be coordinated together across a wide range of the frequency spectrum or induced in specific bands. We used a large dataset of human intracranial electroencephalography...

Interictal spikes (IISs) are LFPs associated with epilepsy that are commonly used to guide surgical resection. Recently, changes in neuronal firing patterns observed in the minutes preceding seizure onset were found to be reactivated during postseizure...

A spectral analysis algorithm, which reduces signal-to-noise ratio, is proposed to derive cycle periodograms for the yield function of DJIA, WIG~20, and NIKKEI 225 indices. Peaks of the the periodograms provide premises to postulate the existence of some possible cycles. The 3.5 year periodicity in all 3 indices, which can be related to Kitchin cycle...
