PublicationThis chapter describes basic methodology of distributed digital signal processing. A choice of distributed methods of detection of selected features in data streams using grid-class systems is discussed. Problems related to distribution of data for processing are addressed. Facial features extraction for color, frontal images
PublicationThe problem of facial characteristic features extraction is discussed. Several methods of features extraction for color en--face photographs are discussed. The methods are based mainly on the colors features related to the specific regions of the human face. The usefulness of presented methods was tested on a database of en--face photographs consisting of 100 photographs.

Modern control strategy of bidirectional DAB converter with consideration of control nonlinearity
PublicationThis paper focuses on the control strategy for modern universal bidirectional Dual Active Bridge (DAB) converters for microgrid systems. An analysis of the converter equations was carried out, and typical problems related to the influence of dead time on the system operation were discussed. A closed control loop was developed, then tested by simulation and on a laboratory stand.

Enhanced Remote Control Providing Medical Functionalities
PublicationThis paper presents the enhanced remote control and its role in pervasive healthcare in the home. The device was equipped with health-related measurement modules and a message-processing unit. Preliminary results are presented for monitoring of a pulse, hand tremors, grip forces, and for self evaluation procedures. Effect of initial imperfection on buckling of thin-walled I columns
PublicationEffects of initial geometrical imperfections on critical buckling loads of thin-walled I columns are investigated. Torsional and flexural buckling are taken into account. The column behaviour is described in accord to the theory of thin-walled beams with nondeformable cross-section. Some numerical examples and conclusions related to effects of imperfections on properties of the critical loads are presented.

SE condition is closely related to certain material instabilities and describes mathematical properties of corresponding boundary-value problems.
