Designing Particle Kalman Filter for Dynamic Positioning
PublicationThe article presents a comparative analysis of two variants of the Particle Kalman Filter designed by using two different ship motion models. The first filter bases only on the kinematic model of the ship and can be used in many types of vehicles, regardless of the vehicle dynamics model. The input value to the filter is the noisy position of the ship. The second filter makes use of the kinematic and dynamic models of the moving...

Dynamic Research of Masonry Vault in a Technical Scale
PublicationThe paper presents preliminary results of dynamic tests of the masonry barrel vault in a technical scale. Experimental studies are intended to identify material properties of homogenized masonry vaults under dynamic loads. The aim of the work is to create numerical models to analyse vault’s dynamic response to dynamic loads in a simplest and accurate way. The process of building the vault in a technical scale is presented in the...

Dynamic Bankruptcy Prediction Models for European Enterprises
PublicationThis manuscript is devoted to the issue of forecasting corporate bankruptcy. Determining a firm’s bankruptcy risk is one of the most interesting topics for investors and decision-makers. The aim of the paper is to develop and to evaluate dynamic bankruptcy prediction models for European enterprises. To conduct this objective, four forecasting models are developed with the use of four different methods—fuzzy sets, recurrent and...

Contribution of dynamic vehicle loads to pavement failure
PublicationPavement surfaces are not ideally even, which causes dynamic loads of vehicle axles. Distribution of dynamic loads of a given axle is similar to normal distribution and can be described by static load and dynamic load coefficient. The dynamic load coefficient depends on road profile, vehicle speed, properties of suspensions and static load of axle. While for a given road section road profile remains constant, vehicle speed and...

Economic benefits of dynamic charging of electric buses
PublicationDiesel engines buses are still the most used type of buses. Electric buses provide promising green alternatives and a lot of advantages, but their main disadvantages are limited travel range and long charging time. This article is a presentation of innovative solution for charging of electric busses - Dynamic Charging (IMC). The modern IMC system in Solingen was presented. At the end of the article, a proposal was made to introduce...

Concurrent Video Denoising and Deblurring for Dynamic Scenes
PublicationDynamic scene video deblurring is a challenging task due to the spatially variant blur inflicted by independently moving objects and camera shakes. Recent deep learning works bypass the ill-posedness of explicitly deriving the blur kernel by learning pixel-to-pixel mappings, which is commonly enhanced by larger region awareness. This is a difficult yet simplified scenario because noise is neglected when it is omnipresent in a wide...

A COMPARISON OF WEAR PROPERTIES OF WATER LUBRICATED NBR AND PTFE SLIDING BEARINGS
PublicationThe excessive wear of a journal shaft can be caused by many factors, for example, working conditions (e.g., temperaturę, slip speed, the type of lubricant), pressure, the type of material used on the bearings and shafts and their roughness, as well as contamination remaining in the system. This paper presents the roughness profiles co-operating with a rubber (NBR) and polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) bushes. The conditions of cooperation...

Tribological performance of PTFE-metal binary coatings in rolling/sliding contact
PublicationTribological performance of surface coatings with embedded PTFE reservoirs in rolling/sliding contact is reported. Using two different coating materials and two shapes and patterns of PTFE reservoirs test samples in the form of discs were prepared and tested in a four-ball contact configuration under loads corresponding to nominal contact pressure of 0.5 and 1.0 GPa. It was found that one coating, namely aluminium-bronze with embedded...

Analytical Study of Sliding Instability due to Velocity- and Temperature-Dependent Friction
PublicationThe instability of sliding causes deterioration of performance characteristics of tribosystems and is undesired. To predict its occurrence, the motion of a body of a one-degree-of-freedom system with friction is investigated about the steady sliding equilibrium position. The motion equation is formulated with the friction coefficient dependent on the sliding velocity and contact temperature changing due to transient heat conduction...

A robust sliding mode observer for non-linear uncertain biochemical systems
PublicationA problem of state estimation for a certain class of non-linear uncertain systems has been addressed in this paper. In particular, a sliding mode observer has been derived to produce robust and stable estimates of the state variables. The stability and robustness of the proposed sliding mode observer have been investigated under parametric and unstructured uncertainty in the system dynamics. In order to ensure an unambiguous non-linear...

One of the methods uses graph theory to describe the motion of water masses in port docks. The results of this study were compared to a simulation using the hydrodynamic numerical model M3D. The results obtained in a virtual environment were related to the experiments in the real world. In the coastal area of the Gulf of Gdansk,...

ON DYNAMICS OF ELASTIC NETWORKS WITH RIGID JUNCTIONS WITHIN NONLINEAR MICRO-POLAR ELASTICITY
PublicationWithin the nonlinear micropolar elasticity we discuss effective dynamic (kinetic) properties of elastic networks with rigid joints. The model of a hyperelastic micropolar continuum is based on two constitutive relations, i.e., static and kinetic ones. They introduce a strain energy density and a kinetic energy density, respectively. Here we consider a three-dimensional elastic network made of three families of elastic fibers connected...

Entropic Measures of Complexity of Short-Term Dynamics of Nocturnal Heartbeats in an Aging Population
PublicationTwo entropy-based approaches are investigated to study patterns describing differences in time intervals between consecutive heartbeats. Improving Control Dynamics of PMSM Drive by Estimating Zero-Delay Current Value
PublicationDynamic performance of current control loop still remains crucial for position-, speed-, and torque-controlled drives. Systems, environments, and soliton rate equations: A non-Kolmogorovian framework for population dynamics
PublicationSoliton rate equations are based on non-Kolmogorovian models of probability and naturally include autocatalytic processes. The formalism is not widely known but has great unexplored potential for applications to systems interacting with environments. Beginning with links of contextuality to non- Kolmogorovity we introduce the general formalism of soliton rate equations and work out explicit examples of subsystems interacting with...
