Frequency and time domain characteristics of digital control of electric vehicle in-wheel drives
PublicationIn-wheel electric drives are promising as actuators in active safety systems of electric and hybrid vehicles. This new function requires dedicated control algorithms, making it essential to deliver models that reflect better the wheel-torque control dynamics of electric drives. Impact of Shifting Time-Window Post-Processing on the Quality of Face Detection Algorithms
PublicationWe consider binary classification algorithms, which operate on single frames from video sequences. Such a class of algorithms is named OFA (One Frame Analyzed). Two such algorithms for facial detection are compared in terms of their susceptibility to the FSA (Frame Sequence Analysis) method. It introduces a shifting time-window improvement, which includes the temporal context of frames in a post-processing step that improves the...

Improving methods for detecting people in video recordings using shifting time-windows
PublicationWe propose a novel method for improving algorithms which detect the presence of people in video sequences. Our focus is on algorithms for applications which require reporting and analyzing all scenes with detected people in long recordings. Adaptive Identification of Underwater Acoustic Channel with a Mix of Static and Time-Varying Parameters
PublicationWe consider the problem of identification of communication channels with a mix of static and time-varying parameters. Such scenarios are typical, among others, in underwater acoustics. In this paper, we further develop adaptive algorithms built on the local basis function (LBF) principle resulting in excellent performance when identifying time-varying systems. The main drawback of an LBF algorithm is its high complexity. The subsequently...

Regularized Identification of Time-Varying FIR Systems Based on Generalized Cross-Validation
PublicationA new regularization method is proposed and applied to identification of time-varying finite impulse response systems. We show, that by a careful design of the regularization constraint, one can improve estimation results, especially in the presence of strong measurement noise. We also show that the the most appropriate regularization gain can be found by direct optimization of the generalized cross-validation criterion.

However, this approach is inherently acausal and it is known that in case of arbitrary signals, the distribution-based, time-domain description can be more effective. The present paper is an attempt to expand the time-domain linear systems formalism onto space problems...
