Non-isocyanate Polyurethanes
PublicationThe main aim of this chapter is to present a general overview of the NIPU synthesis method (i.e., polycondensation and polyaddition), and to describe structure and properties of selected intermediates and final polymeric products. The focus is on five-membered ring cyclic carbonate intermediates, which were obtained by cycloaddition of carbon dioxide to selected glycidyl ethers and thiol-ene coupling of unsaturated cyclic carbonates...

Study of prototype multi-pole non-salient field winding for high speed brushless synchronous generator
PublicationIn this paper a non-salient field winding for a brushless synchronous generator working with high speed in an autonomous energy generation system (e.g. airplane power grid) has been presented. A conception of a six-pole cylindrical-rotor with distributed field winding has been proposed. Comparison study of salient and prototype non-salient field winding has been carried out. Chosen simulation and measurement results of the generator...

Mechanical Recycling via Regrinding, Rebonding, Adhesive Pressing, and Molding
PublicationIncreasing amount of polyurethane foams waste (e.g. from the building or furniture industry) produced every year resulted in the intensive development of their recycling methods. This chapter covers most important mechanical recycling methods, i.e. regrinding, rebonding, adhesive pressing, and molding. The procedure, required equipment and chemicals (if needed) for each method were described. The possible applications of the products...

Influence of datasets decreased by applying reduction and generation methods on Digital Terrain Models
PublicationThe number of point clouds provided by LiDAR technology can be sometimes seen as a problem in development and further processing for given purposes (e.g. Digital Terrain Model (DTM) generation). Therefore, there is still a need to reduce the obtained big datasets. Reducing can be done, inter alia, by reducing the size of the set or by generating the set. This paper presents two variants of the reduction of point clouds in order...

Similarity Measures for Face Images: An Experimental Study
PublicationThis work describes experiments aimed at finding a straightforward but effective way of comparing face images. We discuss properties of the basic concepts, such as the Euclidean, cosine and correlation metrics, test the simplest version of elastic templates, and compare these solutions with distances based on texture descriptors (Local Ternary Patterns). The influence of selected image processing methods (e.g. bilateral ltering)...

Evaluation of respiration rate and pattern using a portable thermal camera
PublicationThe goal of this paper was to analyze the accuracy of the proposed method for the evaluation of respiration rate and respiration rhythm patterns (e.g. inspiration slope) using the portable and mobile thermal camera module that could be a part of smart glasses. Parameters were analyzed for 12 volunteers in two experiments, when subjects speak and do not speak. The pressure, chest belt was used as a reference measurement method....

Reliability of Pulse Measurements in Videoplethysmography
PublicationReliable, remote pulse rate measurement is potentially very important for medical diagnostics and screening. In this paper the Videoplethysmography was analyzed especially to verify the possible use of signals obtained for the YUV color model in order to estimate the pulse rate, to examine what is the best pulse estimation method for short video sequences and finally, to analyze how potential PPG-signals can be distinguished from...

Consolidating logs in varying formats into a structured repository = konsolidacja logów w zmiennych formatach do strukturalnego repozytorium
PublicationDuring multi-agent systems development, testing and re- search, possibly voluminous logs are created at distributed agent loca-tions. These logs describe individual agents behavior and state changes. To get the complete picture of the multi-agent system working, it is necessary to consolidate these logs and to store them in a format appropriate for diverse analyzes. Specic issues arise during consolidation if the log formats are...

TB11 test for short w-beam road barrier
PublicationFEM (Finite Element Method) is well-suited and widely used tool for simulating a range of phenomena: from these with simple and static behaviour, up to those complicated, highly nonlinear and involving many contacts. In present paper we use one of the advantages of FEM: parametric study could be easily performed and is more economical than series of in-situ tests. If recommended practices is carefully followed, results obtained...

Mass Spectrometric Identification of 13C-labeled Metabolites During anaerobic Propanoic Acid Oxidation
PublicationBiowaste digestion is a possibility to gain biogas as a renewable fuel source. However, the anaerobic food chain may be disrupted by, e.g., substrate overload or by inhibitors, leading to the accumulation of volatile fatty acids (VFAs), predominantly of propanoic acid (PA). VFA Accumulation may cause a rapid pH decrease, less biogas production, or even a total inhibition. To maintain high biogas productivity or to prevent a collapse...

Preparation of 1-[Ω-(1,4,5,6-Tetrahydropyrimidin-2-yl)alkyl]thymines
PublicationOne-stage prepn. of the hydrochloride salts of 1-[ω-(1,4,5,6-tetrahydropyrimidin-2-yl)alkyl]-thymines, e.g. I, from 1-(ω-cyanoalkyl)thymines and a 1:1-mixt. of 1,3-diaminopropane and ethanol satd. with hydrogen sulfide is described. 1-(2-Cyanoethyl)-thymine gave a facile reversal of the Michael reaction to thymine under the conditions used. The reaction of 1,3-bis(3-cyanobenzyl)thymine with the above reagent produced 1,3-bis[3-(1,4,5,6-tetrahydropyrimidin-2-yl)benzyl]thymine.

ANYTIME POLYNOMIAL HEURISTIC ALGORITHM FOR PARTITIONING GROUPS OF DATA WITH PRESERVING CLASS PROPORTIONS FOR CROSS-VALIDATION
PublicationThe article describes a problem of splitting data for k-fold cross-validation, where class proportions must be preserved, with additional constraint that data is divided into groups that cannot be split into different cross-validation sets. This problem often occurs in e.g. medical data processing, where data samples from one patient must be included in the same cross-validation set. As this problem is NP-complete, a heuristic...
