Effect of Cr and Mn doping on ferroelectric and dielectric properties of Li1.72Na0.28Ge4O9 single crystals
PublikacjaLi1.72Na0.28Ge4O9 single crystals pure and slightly doped with chromium and manganese, obtained by Czochralski growth, were investigated for their ferroelectric and dielectric properties. The change in stoichometry of Li2− x Na x Ge4O9 (x = 0.28) crystals doped with Cr and Mn (0.1 mol.%) had an influence on the value of ferroelectric-to-paraelectric phase transition temperature, T c. The applied doping affects the T c value by...

Investigations of the optical activity of nonlinear crystals by means of dual-wavelength polarimeter
PublikacjaA dual-wavelength method in high accuracy polarimetry has been successfully tested and applied to measure optical activity (OA) of nonlinear crystals. In proposed polarimetric scheme two neighboring semiconductor laser wavelengths (635 and 650 nm) are used, which increases number of parameters measured simultaneously and improves the data processing. By neglecting dispersion of eigen wave ellipticity in crystals, more efficient...

Modulated crystal structures - periodicity in more than three dimensions
PublikacjaThe initial definition of a crystal was that it is an object with flat faces. When diffraction studies were developed it turned out that crystal consists of a highly ordered particles and it is possible to isolate a small unique part of their structure - a unit cell - and the definition has been changed to rely on this fact. Nowadays by a crystal we mean any solid having an essentially discrete diffraction diagram. It is because...

Tunable Dielectric Switching of (Quinuclidinium)[MnCl4] Hybrid Compounds
PublikacjaInorganic−organic hybrid QMnCl (Q = quinuclidinium) crystals were synthesized and characterized. The X-ray and variable-temperature IR/Raman analysis demonstrate that the crystals undergo a reversible structural phase transition, which originates from an order−disorder process and is related to the dynamics of the organic Q cation. Dielectric function measurements disclose a switchability between low (“OFF”) and high (“ON”) dielectric...

Enhancement of the Magnetic Coupling in Exfoliated CrCl 3 Crystals Observed by Low‐Temperature Magnetic Force Microscopy and X‐ray Magnetic Circular Dichroism
PublikacjaMagnetic crystals formed by 2D layers interacting by weak van der Waals forces are currently a hot research topic. When these crystals are thinned to nanometric size, they can manifest strikingly different magnetic behavior compared to the bulk form. This can be the result of, for example, quantum electronic confinement effects, the presence of defects, or pinning of the crystallographic structure in metastable phases induced by...

Rubrene Thin Films with Viably Enhanced Charge Transport Fabricated by Cryo-Matrix-Assisted Laser Evaporation
PublikacjaAmong organic semiconductors, rubrene (RB; C42H28) is of rapidly growing interest for the development of organic and hybrid electronics due to exceptionally long spin diffusion length and carrier mobility up to 20 cm2V−1s−1 in single crystals. However, the fabrication of RB thin films resembling properties of the bulk remains challenging, mainly because of the RB molecule’s twisted conformation. This hinders the formation of orthorhombic...

Polymerization of chloro-p-xylylenes, quantum-chemical study
PublikacjaThe p-xylylene monomers of parylene N, C and D have similar high polymerization reactivity. For effective copolymerization processes this fact is basically a draw- back and for instance the copolymerization with styrene doesn't go at all (Corley et al. J Pol Sc 13(68):137156, 1954). Substitution of terminal hydrogen atoms by chlorine atoms reduces reactivity dramatically. 7,7,8,8-tetrachloro-p- xylylene and 2,5,7,7,8,8-hexachloro-p-xylylene...
