Big Data from Sensor Network via Internet of Things to Edge Deep Learning for Smart City
PublikacjaData from a physical world is sampled by sensor networks, and then streams of Big Data are sent to cloud hosts to support decision making by deep learning software. In a smart city, some tasks may be assigned to smart devices of the Internet of Things for performing edge computing. Besides, a part of workload of calculations can be transferred to the cloud hosts. This paper proposes benchmarks for division tasks between an edge...

Mining Knowledge of Respiratory Rate Quantification and Abnormal Pattern Prediction
PublikacjaThe described application of granular computing is motivated because cardiovascular disease (CVD) remains a major killer globally. There is increasing evidence that abnormal respiratory patterns might contribute to the development and progression of CVD. Consequently, a method that would support a physician in respiratory pattern evaluation should be developed. Group decision-making, tri-way reasoning, and rough set–based analysis...

10-Methyl- and 9,10-dimethyl acridinium methyl sulfate
PublikacjaThe title compounds, C(14)H(12)N(+).CH(3)O(4)S(-), (I), and C(15)H(14)N(+).CH(3)O(4)S(-), (II), respectively, crystallize with the planar 10-methylacridinium or 9,10-dimethylacridinium cations arranged in layers, parallel to the twofold axis in (I) and perpendicular to the 2(1) axis in (II). Adjacent cations in both compounds are packed in a 'head-to-tail' manner. The methyl sulfate anion only exhibits planar symmetry in (II)....

Unusual divergence of magnetoacoustic beams
PublikacjaTwo-dimensional magnetosonic beams directed along a line forming a constant angle h with the equilibrium straight magnetic field are considered. Perturbations in a plasma are described by the system of ideal magnetohydrodynamic equations. The dynamics of perturbations in a beam are different in the cases of fast and slow modes, and it is determined by h and equilibrium parameters of a plasma. In particular, a beam divergence may...

Asynchronous time difference of arrival (ATDOA) method
PublikacjaA new method for a location service in the asynchronous wireless sensor networks is outlined. This method, which is called asynchronous time difference of arrival (ATDOA), enables calculation of the position of a mobile node without knowledge of relative time differences (RTDs) between measuring sensors. The ATDOA method is based on the measurement of time difference of arrival between the node and the same sensor at the discrete...

Multi-objective optimization of expensive electromagnetic simulation models
PublikacjaVast majority of practical engineering design problems require simultaneous handling of several criteria. For the sake of simplicity and through a priori preference articulation one can turn many design tasks into single-objective problems that can be handled using conventional numerical optimization routines. However, in some situations, acquiring comprehensive knowledge about the system at hand, in particular, about possible...

A Note on a Problem Posed by D. E. Knuth on a Satisfiability Recurrence
PublikacjaWe resolve a conjecture proposed by D.E. Knuth concerning a recurrence arising in the satisfiability problem. Knuth's recurrence resembles recurrences arising in the analysis of tries, in particular PATRICIA tries, and asymmetric leader election. We solve Knuth's recurrence exactly and asymptotically, using analytic techniques such as the Mellin transform and analytic depoissonization.

Deterministic rendezvous of asynchronous bounded-memory agents in polygonal terrains
PublikacjaWe consider two versions of the rendezvous problem: exact RV, when the points representing agents have to coincide at some time, and e-RV, when these points have to get at distance less than e in the terrain. In any terrain, each agent chooses its trajectory, but the movements of the agent on this trajectory are controlled by an adversary that may, e.g. speed up or slow down the agent.

Ship weather routing featuring w-MOEA/D and uncertainty handling
PublikacjaThe paper presents a new version of evolutionary multi-objective weather routing (WR) for ships taking into account uncertainties of weather forecasts in route optimization. Collaborative Exploration of Trees by Energy-Constrained Mobile Robots
PublikacjaWe study the problem of exploration of a tree by mobile agents (robots) that have limited energy. The energy constraint bounds the number of edges that can be traversed by a single agent. We use a team of agents to collectively explore the tree and the objective is to minimize the size of this team. The agents start at a single node, the designated root of the tree and the height of the tree is assumed to be less than the energy...

The route should be optimal in terms of passage time, fuel consumption and safety of crew and cargo while taking into account dynamically changing weather conditions. Additionally it must not violate any navigational constraints...

We require that the strategy is connected and monotone, that is, at each point of the execution the part of the graph...

On Tradeoffs Between Width- and Fill-like Graph Parameters
PublikacjaIn this work we consider two two-criteria optimization problems: given an input graph, the goal is to find its interval (or chordal) supergraph that minimizes the number of edges and its clique number simultaneously. For the interval supergraph, the problem can be restated as simultaneous minimization of the path width pw(G) and the profile p(G) of the input graph G. We prove that for an arbitrary graph G and an integer t ∈ {1,...

In these cases, due to variable environmental conditions, making...

Characteristics of the smoothing filter should be chosen so as to provide the best trade- off between the bias and variance of the resulting estimates. It is shown that optimization of the smoothing operation can...
