Wireless LAN with noncooperative anonymous stations: QOS provisioning via war of attrition
PublikacjaMAC-layer QoS provision necessitates an admission scheme to grant a requested QoS notwithstanding subse-quent requests. For an ad hoc WLAN with anonymous stations, we assume a degree of power awareness to propose a session- rather than frame-level bidding for bandwidth. Next we analyze the underlying Bayesian war of attrition game.

Ocena wpływu dodatku oliwy z oliwek na degradację termiczną rafinowanego oleju rzepakowego
PublikacjaTłuszcze jadalne to ważny składnik diety człowieka.

Understanding the affinity between chitosan and collagen type II is particularly relevant in the context of mechanical properties modulation, which is closely associated with designing biomaterials suitable for cartilage and synovial fluid regeneration. However, many structural features influence...

TOTAL DOMINATION MULTISUBDIVISION NUMBER OF A GRAPH
PublikacjaThe domination multisubdivision number of a nonempty graph G was defined in [3] as the minimum positive integer k such that there exists an edge which must be subdivided k times to increase the domination number of G. Similarly we define the total domination multisubdivision number msd_t (G) of a graph G and we show that for any connected graph G of order at least two, msd_t (G) ≤ 3. We show that for trees the total domination...

Bifurcation of equilibrium forms of an elastic rod on a two-parameter Winkler foundation
PublikacjaWe consider two-parameter bifurcation of equilibrium states of an elastic rod on a deformable foundation. Our main theorem shows that bifurcation occurs if and only if the linearization of our problem has nontrivial solutions. In fact our proof, based on the concept of the Brouwer degree, gives more, namely that from each bifurcation point there branches off a continuum of solutions.

Indirect adaptive controller based on a self-structuring fuzzy system for nonlinear modeling and control
PublikacjaIn this paper, a unified nonlinear modeling and control scheme is presented. A self-structuring Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzymodel is used to approximate the unknown nonlinear plant based on I/O data collected on-line. Both the structure and theparameters of the T-S fuzzy model are updated by an on-line clustering method and a recursive least squares estimation(RLSE) algorithm. The rules of the fuzzy model can be added, replaced or...

Information content of systems as a physical principle
PublikacjaTo explain the conceptual gap between classical and quantum and other, hypothetical descriptions of the world, several principles have been proposed. So far, all these principles have not explicitly included the uncertainty relation. Here we introduce an information content principle ( ICP ) which represents a constrained uncertainty principle. The principle, by taking into account the encoding and decoding properties of a single physical...

Maximizing SDN resilience to node‐targeted attacks through joint optimization of the primary and backup controllers placements
PublikacjaIn Software Defined Networks (SDN) packet data switches are configured by a limited number of SDN controllers, which respond to queries for packet forwarding decisions from the switches. To enable optimal control of switches in real time the placement of controllers at network nodes must guarantee that the controller-to-controller and switch-to-controller communications delays are bounded. Apart from the primary controllers that...

A note on the Morse homology for a class of functionals in Banach spaces involving the 2p-area functional
PublikacjaIn this paper we show how to construct Morse homology for an explicit class of functionals involving the 2p-area functional. The natural domain of definition of such functionals is the Banach space W_0^{1,2p}(\Omega), where p > n/2 and \Omega \subet R^n is a bounded domain with sufficiently smooth boundary. As W_0^{1,2p}(\Omega) is not isomorphic to its dual space, critical points of such functionals cannot be non-degenerate...

Free Convection Heat Transfer from Horizontal Cylinders
PublikacjaThe results of experimental investigation of free convection heat transfer in a rectangular container are presented. The ability of the commonly accepted correlation equations to reproduce present experimental data was tested as well. It was assumed that the examined geometry fulfils the requirement of no-interaction between heated cylinder and bounded surfaces. In order to check this assumption recently published correlation equations...

We also study the computational complexity of the problem of determining whether the domination and secondary domination numbers are equal. In particular, we study the influence of triangles and vertices of degree 1 on these numbers. Also, an optimal algorithm for finding...

Comparing Arbitrary Unrooted Phylogenetic Trees Using Generalized Matching Split Distance
PublikacjaIn the paper, we describe a method for comparing arbitrary, not necessary fully resolved, unrooted phylogenetic trees. Proposed method is based on finding a minimum weight matching in bipartite graphs and can be regarded as a generalization of well-known Robinson-Foulds distance. We present some properties and advantages of the new distance. We also investigate some properties of presented distance in a common biological problem...

INFLUENCE OF A VERTEX REMOVING ON THE CONNECTED DOMINATION NUMBER – APPLICATION TO AD-HOC WIRELESS NETWORKS
PublikacjaA minimum connected dominating set (MCDS) can be used as virtual backbone in ad-hoc wireless networks for efficient routing and broadcasting tasks. To find the MCDS is an NP- complete problem even in unit disk graphs. Many suboptimal algorithms are reported in the literature to find the MCDS using local information instead to use global network knowledge, achieving an important reduction in complexity. Since a wireless network...

Monitoring of Chlorine Concentration in Drinking Water Distribution Systems Using an Interval Estimator
PublikacjaThis paper describes the design of an interval observer for the estimation of unmeasured quality state variables in drinking water distribution systems. The bounds are generated by solving two differential equations. Hence the numerical efficiency is sufficient for on-line monitoring...

Mitigating Traffic Remapping Attacks in Autonomous Multi-hop Wireless Networks

Nodes launching TRAs leverage the underlying channel access function to receive an unduly high Quality of Service (QoS) for packet flows traversing source-to-destination routes. TRAs are easy to execute, impossible to prevent, difficult to detect, and harmful to the QoS of honest nodes. Recognizing the need for providing...
