Effect of surface on the flexomagnetic response of ferroic composite nanostructures; nonlinear bending analysis
PublikacjaOur analysis incorporates the geometrically nonlinear bending of the Euler-Bernoulli ferromagnetic nanobeam accounting for a size-dependent model through assuming surface effects. In the framework of the flexomagnetic phenomenon, the large deflections are investigated referring to von-Kármán nonlinearity. Employing the nonlocal effects of stress coupled to the gradient of strain generates a scale-dependent Hookean stress-strain...

Anti-plane shear waves in an elastic strip rigidly attached to an elastic half-space
PublikacjaWe consider the anti-plane shear waves in a domain consisting of an infinite layer with a thin coating lying on an elastic half-space. The elastic properties of the coating, layer, and half-space are assumed to be different. On the free upper surface we assume the compatibility condition within the Gurtin–Murdoch surface elasticity, whereas at the plane interface we consider perfect contact. For this problem there exist two possible...

A brief review on the conditions, sufficient for the existence of a grazing family of periodic solutions, is given. The properties of these periodic solutions are discussed. A plenty of results on the topological structure of attractors of vibro-impact systems is known. However, since the considered system is strongly nonlinear, these attractors...

Behaviour of deformed steel columns exposed to impact load during earthquakes - experimental study
PublikacjaIt has been observed during major earthquakes that the so called soft-storey failure of an upper floor of a structure results in large impact load acting on structural members of the lower storeys. It may further lead to progressive collapse of the whole structure substantially intensifying human and material losses. The aim of this paper is to investigate experimentally the behaviour of horizontally deformed columns (deformation...

Acoustic Heating Produced in the Thermoviscous Flow of a Shear-Thinning Fluid
PublikacjaThis study is devoted to the instantaneous acoustic heating of a shear-thinningfluid. Apparent viscosity of a shear-thinning fluid depends on the shear rate. Thatfeature distinguishes it from a viscous Newtonian fluid. The special linear combi-nation of conservation equations in the differential form makes it possible to derivedynamic equations governing both the sound and non-wave entropy mode inducedin the field of sound. These...

In the second case, acoustic energy increases in the course of sound propagation, and the internal energy...

Periodic Properties of 1D FE Discrete Models in High Frequency Dynamics
PublikacjaFinite element discrete models of various engineering 1D structures may be considered as structures of certain periodic characteristics. Mobility and biodegradability of an imidazolium based ionic liquid in soil and soil amended with waste sewage sludge
PublikacjaSorption on solids and biodegradation are main phenomena that can mitigate the pollution of soil and water by ionic liquids (ILs). In this study we attempt to examine if amendment of soil with waste sludge has a potential to mitigate...
