ADAPTIVE METHOD FOR THE SOLUTION OF 1D AND 2D ADVECTION-DIFFUSION EQUATIONS USED IN ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING
PublikacjaThe paper concerns the numerical solution of one-dimensional (1D) and two-dimensional (2D) advection-diffusion equations. For the numerical solution of the 1D advection-diffusion equation a method, originally proposed for solution of the 1D pure advection equation, has been developed. A modified equation analysis carried out for the proposed method allowed increasing of the resulting solution accuracy and consequently, to reduce...

Study of Slip Effects in Reverse Roll Coating Process Using Non-Isothermal Couple Stress Fluid
PublikacjaThe non-isothermal couple stress fluid inside a reverse roll coating geometry is considered. The slip condition is considered at the surfaces of the rolls. To develop the flow equations, the mathematical modelling is performed using conservation of momentum, mass, and energy. The LAT (lubrication approximation theory) is employed to simplify the equations. The closed form solution for velocity, temperature, and pressure gradient...

Comparison of noise reduction methods in radiometric correlation measurements of two-phase liquid-gas flows
PublikacjaTwo-phase liquid-gas flows occur frequently in the mining, energy, chemical, and petrochemical industries. One of non-contact methods used to analyse these flows is the gamma ray absorption method. However, the signals received from radiation detectors contain a significant stochastic noise, which makes them difficult to analyse. The article describes four methods of noise reduction in cross-correlation measurements of water-air...

TIME- AND FREQUENCY-DOMAIN QUASI-2D SMALL-SIGNAL MOSFET MODELS
PublikacjaA novel approach to small-signal MOSFET modeling is presented in this book. As a result, time- and frequency-domain physics-based quasi-2D NQS four-terminal small-signal MOSFET models are proposed. The time-domain model provides the background to a novel DIBL-included quasi‑2D NQS four-terminal frequency-domain small-signal MOSFET model. Parameters and electrical quantities of the frequency-domain model are described by explicit...

A high-accuracy method of computation of x-ray waves propagation through an optical system consisting of many lenses
PublikacjaThe propagation of X-ray waves through an optical system consisting of many X-ray refractive lenses is considered. Two differential equations are contemplated for solving the problem for electromagnetic wave propagation: first – an equation for the electric field, second – an equation derived for a complex phase of an electric field. Both equations are solved by the use of a finite-difference method. The simulation error is estimated...

On Surface Kinetic Constitutive Relations
PublikacjaIn the framework of the strain gradient surface elasticity we discuss a consistent form of surface kinetic energy. This kinetic constitutive equation completes the statement of initial–boundary value problems. The proposed surface kinetic energy density is the most general function consistent with the constitutive relations in bulk. As the surface strain energy depends on the surface deformation gradient and its gradient, the kinetic...

FDTD Simulations on Disjoint Domains with the Use of Discrete Green's Function Diakoptics
PublikacjaA discrete Green's function (DGF) approach to couple disjoint domains in the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) grid is developed. In this method, total-field/scattered-field (TFSF) FDTD domains are associated with simulated objects whereas the interaction between them is modeled with the use of the DGF propagator. Hence, source and scatterer are simulated in separate domains and updating of vacuum cells, being of little interest,...

PublikacjaWe report on magnetotransport and thermoelectric properties of two ternary carbides HoNiC2 and ErNiC2 hosting both charge density wave and long-range magnetic order. In the charge density wave state, both compounds show relatively large magnetoresistance MR ≈ 150% in HoNiC2 and ≈ 70%in ErNiC2 at a magnetic field of 9 T and temperature as low as 2 K. This positive field-linear magnetoresistance shows no signatures of saturation....

The (Manhattan) distance between the farthest cells of the field is called its {\em span}. The robot...

Deflated Preconditioned Solvers for Parametrized Local Model Order Reduction

Typically, it is a time-consuming process as it uses advanced computational methods, e.g. the finite-element method (FEM) and it usually requires multiple optimization steps before the specification goals are met. FEM involves solving a large sparse system of equations at many frequency points and therefore its computational cost is...

Hydrogen migration observed in fragmentation of the pyridine molecules in collisions with the H+, H2+, He+and He++cations
PublikacjaThe hydrogen atom migration preceding fragmentation of the pyridine molecules by the H+, H2+, He+ and He++ collisions has been investigated in the 5-2000 eV energy range. The pyridine molecule structure is lacking of the NH group, thus formation of the NH radicals is an evidence of the H atom relocation prior to the cation-induced fragmentation. The NH(A3Π) fragmentation yields measured by detecting its A3Π→X3Σ− fluorescence show...
