Oriented Gaussian beams for high-accuracy computation with accuracy control of X-ray propagation through a multi-lens system
PublikacjaA highly accurate method for calculating X-ray propagation is developed. Within this approach, the propagating wave is represented as a superposition of oriented Gaussian beams. The direction of wave propagation in each Gaussian beam agrees with the local direction of propagation of the X-ray wavefront. When calculating the propagation of X-ray waves through lenses, the thin lens approximation is applied. In this approximation,...

Morphology and properties of nanotubular oxide layer on the Ti13Zr13Nb alloy
PublikacjaThe Ti13Zr13Nb alloy in solid and porous form was oxidised. The constant voltage 20 V, oxidation time 0.5 and 1 h, and 1 M H3PO4 (orthophosphoric acid) with addition of HF (hydrofluoric acid) as a test solution were applied. SEM (Scanning Electron Microscope) examinations of surface, EDS (Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy) chemical analysis, nanohardness and nano-scratch tests, and corrosion potentiokinetic tests at various...

The Effect of C45 Carbon Black-Phosphomolybdic Acid Nanocomposite on Hydrogenation and Corrosion Resistance of La2Ni9Co Hydrogen Storage Alloy
PublikacjaIn this paper, we analysed the influence of corrosion processes and the addition of a carbon black-heteropoly phosphomolybdic acid (C45-MPA) nanocomposite on the operating parameters of a hydride electrode obtained on the basis of the intermetallic compound La2Ni9Co. The electrochemical properties of negative electrodes for NiMH batteries were studied using galvanostatic charge/discharge curves, the potentiostatic method, and electrochemical...

The influence of magnetic particle incorporation on bisphenol A removal by β-cyclodextrin-derived sorbent
PublikacjaA novel, biomass-derived hybrid sorbent Ban-CD-EPI-Fe was successfully synthesized in a coprecipitation method, in which β-cyclodextrin copolymerized with banana peel extract and epichlorohydrin was grafted onto an iron oxide surface. The composition, presence of functional groups, morphology, thermal stability, and magnetic properties of the obtained material were characterized by Powder X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), X-Ray Photoelectron...

Quantitative estimation of volume changes of granular materials during silo flow using X-ray tomography.
PublikacjaW artykule przedstawiono wyniki badań doświadczalnych nad zmianami objętościowymi materiału granulowanego podczas przepływu silosowego. Badania wykonano przy zastosowaniu tomografii rentgenowskiej. Wyniki porównano z wynikami doświadczalnymi przy zastosowaniu cyfrowej obróbki zdjęć płynącego materiału.

Short-range order structure and free volume distribution in liquid bismuth: X-ray diffraction and computer simulations studies
PublikacjaThe structure of liquid bismuth was studied by X-ray diffraction and computer simulation methods. The contraction of the atomic structure within the first coordination sphere in the temperature interval of 575- 1225 K is reported. The temperature dependencies of the coordination numbers and of the free volume are analysed. On the basis of the temperature dependencies of the free volume, the temperature dependencies of viscosity...

Assessment of FSW Welds Made of Aluminum Alloy AW7075-T651.
PublikacjaThis paper summarizes the results of experimental studies in which the aluminum alloy AW7075-T651 was friction stir welded (FSW) using various combinations of process parameters (rotational - R and travel speed - T). Mechanical properties of the test welds were assessed by using static tensile test and Vickers hardness measurement. The temperature of the welded plates was monitored during welding by means of thermocouples placed...

MODELLING OF CONCRETE FRACTURE AT AGGREGATE LEVEL USING DEM BASED ON X-RAY mu CT IMAGES OF INTERNAL STRUCTURE
PublikacjaThe paper describes two-dimensional meso-scale numerical results of fracture in notched concrete beams under quasi-static three-point bending. Concrete was modelled as a random heterogeneous 4-phase material composed of aggregate particles, cement matrix, interfacial transitional zones (ITZs) and air voids. As a numerical approach, the discrete element method (DEM) was used. The concrete micro-structure in calculations was directly...
