Seismic damage diagnosis in adjacent steel and RC MRFs considering pounding effects through improved wavelet-based damage-sensitive feature
PublicationThis paper aims to propose complex Morlet (cmorfb-fc) wavelet-based refined damage-sensitive feature (rDSF) as a new and more precise damage indicator to diagnose seismic damages in adjacent steel and Reinforced Concrete (RC) Moment Resisting Frames (MRFs) assuming pounding conditions using acceleration responses. The considered structures include 6- and 9-story steel and 4- and 8-story RC benchmark...

Hydraulic fracturing process in rocks – small-scale simulations with a novel fully coupled DEM/CFD-based thermo-hydro-mechanical approach
PublicationW artykule przedstawiono dwuwymiarową (2D) symulację numeryczną szczelinowania hydraulicznego w małej skali przeprowadzoną w próbkach skał posiadających pojedynczą szczelinę wtryskową. Wykorzystano unikalny model termo-hydro-mechaniczny (THM) w skali porów oparty na DEM/CFD do symulacji dwufazowego laminarnego przepływu płynu (wody i gazu) z przenoszeniem ciepła w nienasyconych materiałach porowatych o niskiej porowatości. Korzystając...

Effects of Store Brand Perceived Risk on Buyers’ Behavior – Four Decades of Research Overview = Wpływ postrzeganego ryzyka związanego z markami własnymi na zachowania nabywców – przegląd czterech dekad badań
PublicationAbstract. The aim of this paper is to present the concept of store brand perceived risk and the most important studies on its measurement that were being conducted for 40 years. For this purpose, an extensive literature review is introduced. Some aspects of the risk constructs and major effects of store brand perceived risk are emphasized. This paper provides key directions to brand managers regarding store brand assortment.

Urban city lights. Light pollution as one of the effects of incorrectly designed external illumination. How can a successful lighting masterplan diminish its impact?
PublicationIn the modern world, artificial lighting brings many tangible benefits such as the ability to extend working hours and so increase production, recreational use of the city after dark, or the possibility to travel regardless of the time of day. However, this flexibility comes at a price and negatively impacts on the environment. One such negative phenomenon is Light Pollution ‐ a term used to describe excessive nighttime artificial...

Quantum dots conjugates with unsymmetrical bisacridines enhance cytotoxicity of these antitumor compounds in lung cancer cells and have protecting effects on normal cells
PublicationBackground: In recent years, with the rapid development of nanotechnology and its extensive applications in the medicine, nanocarriers for anticancer drug delivery have gained a great importance. Spherical semiconductor nanocrystals, frequently called quantum dots (QDs) are very attractive nanomaterials for bioimaging applications and they possess properties as potential candidates for drug carrier. Unsymmetrical bisacridines (UAs),...

Effects of different hydraulic models on predicting longitudinal profiles of reactive pollutants in activated sludge reactors
PublicationW pracy przedstawiono wpływ dyspersji na prognozowanie stężeń azotu amonowego w komorach osadu czynnego w oczyszczalni ścieków Gdańsk-Wschód. W tym celu wykorzystano jednowymiarowe równanie adwekcji-dyspersji z członem źródłowym (szybkością nitryfikacji). Współczynnik dyspersji został wyznaczony na podstawie pomiarów znacznika fluoroscencyjnego. Model został zweryfikowany w oparciu o pomiary stężeń azotu w 6 sekcjach komory tlenowej...

Synergistic Effects of Bitumen Plasticization and Microwave Treatment on Short-Term Devulcanization of Ground Tire Rubber
PublicationGround tire rubber (GTR) was mechano-chemically modified with road bitumen 160/220 and subsequently treated using a microwave radiation. The combined impact of bitumen 160/220 content and microwave treatment on short-term devulcanization of GTR was studied by thermal camera, wavelength dispersive X-ray fluorescence spectrometry (WD-XRF), static headspace, and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (SHS-GC-MS), thermogravimetric analysis...
