A space-efficient algorithm for computing the minimum cycle mean in a directed graph
PublicationAn algorithm is introduced for computing the minimum cycle mean in a strongly connected directed graph with n vertices and m arcs that requires O(n) working space. This is a considerable improvement for sparse graphs in comparison to the classical algorithms that require O(n^2) working space. The time complexity of the algorithm is still O(nm). An implementation in C++ is made publicly available at http://www.pawelpilarczyk.com/cymealg/.

PublicationThe article presents the outcomes of the ‘Art and design’ - interdisciplinary programme WIRE 2013, and the work of studio regarding the impact of art instalation in the public Space . The subject of the workshop was an ‘Architectural Installation’. The relationship between art and architecture remains a challenging issue today, first and foremost in the domain of architecture, and particularly in art and design schools. To address...

Crystallization of space: Space-time fractals from fractal arithmetic
PublicationFractals such as the Cantor set can be equipped with intrinsic arithmetic operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) that map the fractal into itself. The arithmetics allows one to define calculus and algebra intrinsic to the fractal in question, and one can formulate classical and quantum physics within the fractal set. In particular, fractals in space-time can be generated by means of homogeneous spaces associated...

Ontology clustering by directions algorithm to expand ontology queries
PublicationThis paper concerns formulating ontology queries. It describes existing languages in which ontologies can be queried. It focuses on languages which are intended to be easily understood by users who are willing to retrieve information from ontologies. Such a language can be, for example, a type of controlled natural language (CNL). In this paper a novel algorithm called Ontology Clustering by Directions is presented. The algorithm...

The design of an intelligent medical space supporting automated patient interviewing
PublicationThe article presents the architecture and results of implementing an application for the intelligent medical space UbiDoDo (Ubiquitous Domestic Doctor's Office). The main purpose of the application is real-time monitoring of the biomedical parameters of a patient in his domestic environment. It allows an immediate reaction to appearing symptoms and provides means to automatically interview the patient and deliver his results to...

Performance comparison of new modified gradient algorithm and Foy algorithm for iterative position calculation
PublicationIn the paper a new position calculation algorithm is presented. It is proposed for indoor environments and is called modified gradient algorithm. This algorithm is compared with well-known Foy algorithm. The comparative analysis is based on real distance measurements conducted in indoor environment.

Macromodels for efficient FEM simulations of waveguides and resonators
PublicationThis paper introduces a novel technique for enhancing the efficiency of the finite element method (FEM) by incorporating special modules, called macromodels, into the standard eigenvalue formulation. The number of unknowns in the separated macromodel subdomain can be significantly reduced by orthogonal projection, using the efficient nodal order reduction algorithm. The idea of macromodels implementation is demonstrated on a simple...

ELECTIVE PROJECT II _sem 5_Green Story - Free Time Space
e-Learning CoursesThe topic of the course - Green Story - Free Time Space, joins green architecture and a place to spend free time - inside and outside – to read, to eat, to relax. The idea is to design green – to give back the greenery to the public square – to make a city space more friendly for users and more friendly to the environment. You can design a story, to make a space more attractive. You can design a Green Story, to make people more...

IN SEARCH OF A NEW EXHIBITION SPACE
PublicationThe buildings considered as raising the prestige and promoting cities are those related to culture. Their impact on urban life is undeniable, which is reflected in a continuous increase in the number of new museum buildings. Apart from places intrinsically linked with culture, which, as such, may be considered as standard - like museum, theatres or galleries - there also appear alternative places of development and promotion of...

COMPARISON OF SYSTEM ON CHIP TECHNOLOGIES FOR SPACE APPLICATIONS
PublicationThe paper presents a review of technologies available for the implementation of digital and mixed signal systems, particularly the system on a chip (SoC) for space applications. The phenomena encountered in the space environment are briefly presented, together with the known solutions, regarding the design of complex electronic systems. The most important norms regarding single die integrated circuits designed for space are also...

MARKETING STRATEGY - SPACE AS A PRODUCT.ARCHITECTURE AS A MARKETING DEVICE.
PublicationSpace has its measurable financial value. From the economic point of view place can be treated as a product that fights for appearing in tourists' and investors' consciousnesses. Space - treated as the object of demand and supply - becomes an element in a marketing game. To reach its maximal value the given space should be competitive to other spaces, from which it wants to stand out. However, in the field of architecture - and...

The essence of marine and coastal space – an interdisciplinary perspective
PublicationSea space has been undergoing a profound transformation. Although it retains its inspirational function in arts, literature and philosophy, it has been gaining new anthropogenic dimensions in eco-nomics and urban planning as a source of satisfying human needs i.e. the provision of harmony, beauty, off-shore energy, and biotech substances. Therefore, in this paper marine space is analyzed from a mul-tidimensional perspective of...

Looking for New Ideas of Public Space – Public Space Projects in Gdansk Reinforced by Art Activities
PublicationRevitalization of public open spaces is a complex enterprise in Poland in terms of the art, cultural andinformation aspects of this process. Simultaneously the public space should play an important role whenbuilding the quality of revitalization programs and the quality of city development. The new art and culturalactivities are the revitalization tools, which are also the good examples of bottom up ideas helping to start aprocess...

Hybridized Space-Vector Pulsewidth Modulation for Multiphase Two-Level Voltage Source Inverter
PublicationIn space vector pulsewidth modulation (SVPWM) algorithms for multiphase two-level voltage source inverters (VSI), the components of active vectors in all orthogonal spaces have to be calculated within the processor and stored in its memory. These necessitate intensive computational efforts of the processor and large memory space. This article presents a hybridized SVPWM for multiphase two-level VSI. In this algorithm, elements...
