Optimal control of 2-wheeled mobile robot at energy performance index
PublicationThe paper presents the application of the optimal control method at the energy perfor- mance index towards motion control of the 2-wheeled mobile robot. With the use of the proposed method of control the 2-wheeled mobile robot can realise effectively the desired trajectory. The problem of motion control of mobile robots is usually neglected and thus performance of the realisation of the high level control tasks is limited.

Control of mass concentration of reagents by sound in a gas with nonequilibrium chemical reactions
PublicationThe weakly nonlinear dynamics of a chemically reacting gas is studied. Nonlinear interaction of acoustic and nonacoustic types of motion are considered. We decompose the base equations using the relationships of the gas-dynamic perturbations specific for every type of motion. The governing equation for the mass fraction of a reagent influenced by dominating sound is derived and discussed. The conclusions concern the equilibrium...

Theoretical study of the energetics of the reactions of triplet dioxygen with hydroquinone, semiquinone, and their protonated forms: relation to the mechanism of superoxide generation in the respiratory chain = Badanie teoretyczne energii z energii reakcji dioksygenu potrójnego z wodorem, półkiną i ich formami protony: relacja z mechanizmem wytwarzania supertlenku w łańcuchu oddechowym
PublicationW pracy prezentujemy wyniki obliczeń kwantowych ab initio i półempirycznych energetyki reakcji redukcji jednoelektronowej tlenu trypletowego. Zaproponowaliśmy cztery możliwe mechanizmy redukcji i przeprowadziliśmy obliczenia kwantowe. Z obliczeń wynika, że najprawdopodobniejszy mechanizm reakcji wiedzie poprzez przeniesienie elektronu z anionu hydrochinonu po deprotonacji lub też z rodnika semichinonowego na tlen cząsteczkowy,...

DNA Methylation Changes Induced by Redox-Active Compounds—Choosing the Right PCR-Based Method
PublicationThe impact of catechins on the expression profile of redox-related genes in HT29 cell line has been studied recently by our group using Oxidative Stress RT2 Profiler PCR Array. Within the examined panel of 84 genes, the down-regulation of SRXN1 gene was unique among other up-regulated genes. We hypothesized that the observed down-regulation resulted from DNA methylation and have exploited this observation to choose the proper strategy...

Nutrient transport and acquisition by diatom chains in a moving fluid
PublicationThe role of fluid motion in delivery of nutrients to phytoplankton cells is a fundamental question in biological and chemical oceanography. In the study of mass transfer to phytoplankton, diatoms are of particular interest. They are non-motile, are often the most abundant components in aggregates and often form chains, so they are the ones expected to benefit most from enhancement of nutrient flux due to dissipating turbulence....

A research on the optimal conditions for separation and identyfication of the components from the Droseraceae extracts by column liquid chromatography
PublicationThe isolation of the components with anticipated biological properties i.e. antimicrobial, fungicidal, antioxidant and perhaps anticancer activity is for many years a one of the biggest issues of modern separation science. Their obtaining based on the isolation of the components with the biological activity from in vitro cultured plants by extraction techniques is often more difficult than their production by the chemical synthesis.The...

On Nonlinear Dynamic Theory of Thin Plates with Surface Stresses
PublicationWe discuss the modelling of dynamics of thin plates considering surface stresses according to Gurtin–Murdoch surface elasticity. Taking into account the surface mass density we derive the two-dimensional (2D) equations of motion. For the reduction of the three-dimensional (3D) motion equations to the 2D ones we use the trough-the-thickness integration procedure. As a result, the 2D dynamic parameters of the plate depend not only...

Analytical Study of Sliding Instability due to Velocity- and Temperature-Dependent Friction
PublicationThe instability of sliding causes deterioration of performance characteristics of tribosystems and is undesired. To predict its occurrence, the motion of a body of a one-degree-of-freedom system with friction is investigated about the steady sliding equilibrium position. The motion equation is formulated with the friction coefficient dependent on the sliding velocity and contact temperature changing due to transient heat conduction...

Variations of Ship’s Deck Elevation Due to Stochastic Process of Containers Loading
PublicationThe stochastic process of container loading is described in the paper with special emphasis to ship motion when she is lying at a quay. The 3 DOF system was applied to describe rolling, pitching and heaving of a vessel which may cause a significant variations of momentary deck elevation. The realistic range of such variations are assessed for a variety of cargo locations on-board and a phase shift between two independent gantries...

Relationship between Telomere Length, TERT Genetic Variability and TERT, TP53, SP1, MYC Gene Co-Expression in the Clinicopathological Profile of Breast Cancer
PublicationThe molecular mechanisms of telomerase reverse transcriptase (TERT) upregulation in breast cancer (BC) are complex. We compared genetic variability within TERT and telomere length with the clinical data of patients with BC. Additionally, we assessed the expression of the TERT, MYC, TP53 and SP1 genes in BC patients and in BC organoids (3D cell cultures obtained from breast cancer tissues). We observed the same correlation in the...

The role of epigenetics in regeneration
PublicationComplex changes in chromatin structure and at the transcriptional level occur from the creation of a single parental gamete throughout fertilization, embryo development and the life of an adult organism. Epigenetic changes, such as methylation and hydroxymethylation of DNA or histone methylation and acetylation, are an important part of these processes. Epigenetic regulation has an essential influence on gene expression level. DNA...

THE INFLUENCE OF GESTALT THEORY ON ERNST CASSIRER’S PHENOMENOLOGY OF SYMBOLIC FORMS
PublicationIn the opinion of many scholars the notion of symbolic pregnancy is one of the key concepts in Ernst Cassirer’s philosophy of symbolic forms. Without a proper under-standing of its conceptual frame Cassirer’s philosophy lacks a consistent foundation. The notion symbolic pregnancy offers the mechanism of distinction of symbolic forms. The newest investigations (also in unpublished or less known, neglected writings of the philosopher)...
