Wykazano, że wzbogacenie obrabianej stali manganem powoduje przemiany fazowe pod wpływem działania obciążeń kawitacyjnych, co przyczynia się do wzrostu odporności kawitacyjnej. Wzmacnianie stali węglikiem TiC powoduje natomiast zanik zdolności stali do wzmacniania odkształceniowego.
