Discrete-time estimation of nonlinear continuous-time stochastic systems
PublicationIn this paper we consider the problem of state estimation of a dynamic system whose evolution is described by a nonlinear continuous-time stochastic model. We also assume that the system is observed by a sensor in discrete-time moments. To perform state estimation using uncertain discrete-time data, the system model needs to be discretized. We compare two methods of discretization. The first method uses the classical forward Euler...

On the convergence of a nonlinear finite-difference discretization of the generalized Burgers–Fisher equation
PublicationIn this note, we establish analytically the convergence of a nonlinear finite-difference discretization of the generalized Burgers-Fisher equation. The existence and uniqueness of positive, bounded and monotone solutions for this scheme was recently established in [J. Diff. Eq. Appl. 19, 1907{1920 (2014)]. In the present work, we prove additionally that the method is convergent of order one in time, and of order two in space. Some...

Stochastic resonance in measurements
PublicationNoise is usually associated with the negative phenomenon, hampering the measurements data and their analysis. This view has been broken in the '80s when the phenomenon of stochastic resonance (Stochastic Resonance - SR) was discovered. SR became a way to improve efficiency of weak signals detection....

Identification of Parameters Influencing the Accuracy of the Solution of the Nonlinear Muskingum Equation
PublicationTwo nonlinear versions of the Muskingum equation are considered. The difference between both equations relates to the exponent parameter. Instantaneous Heating and Cooling Caused by Periodic or Aperiodic Sound of Any Characteristic Duration in a Gas with Vibrational Relaxation
PublicationThermodynamic relaxation of internal degrees of a molecule's freedom in a gas occurs with some characteristic time. This makes wave processes in a gas behave differently depending on the ratio of characteristic duration of perturbations and the relaxation time. In particular, generation of the secondary non-wave modes by intense sound in a nonlinear flow dependens on frequency. These kinds of interaction are considered in this...
