Effect of oxygenation time on signal of a sensor based on ionic liquids
PublicationThe paper presents an oxygen sensor based on ionic liquids and solid electrodes. The following ionic liquids have been employed: [BMIM][BF4], [HMIM][Cl], [BMIM][N(CN2)]. Minimum time of the sensor exposure to analyte, after which the signal (current intensity) was stable, has been evaluated. An impact of volumetric flow rate of analyte on the sensor exposure time and signal has been determined. A product of permeability coefficient...

Dynamical objectivity in quantum Brownian motion
PublicationClassical objectivity as a property of quantum states —a view proposed to explain the observer-independent character of our world from quantum theory, is an important step in bridging the quantum-classical gap. It was recently derived in terms of spectrum broadcast structures for small objects embedded in noisy photon-like environments. However, two fundamental problems have arisen: a description of objective motion and applicability...

Influence of pitting corrosion on fatigue and corrosion fatigue of ship and offshore structures. Part II: Load - pit crack interaction
PublicationIn the paper has been discussed influence of stresses on general corrosion rate and corrosion pit nucleation and growth rate, whose presence has been questioned by some authors but accepted by most of them. Influence of pit walls roughness on fatigue life of a plate suffering pit corrosion and presence of so called "non damaging" pits which never lead to initiation of fatigue crack, has been presented. Possibility of prediction...

Enhanced Mobility and Large Linear Nonsaturating Magnetoresistance in the Magnetically Ordered States of TmNiC2
PublicationWe have studied the magnetic, magnetotransport, and galvanomagnetic properties of TmNiC2. We find that the antiferromagnetic and field induced metamagnetic and ferromagnetic orderings do not suppress the charge density wave. The persistence of Fermi surface pockets, open as a result of imperfect nesting accompanying the Peierls transition, results in an electronic carriers mobility of the order of 4 × 103 cm2 V−1 s−1 in ferromagnetic...

Georg Simmel’s The Philosophy of Money and the Modernization Paradigm
PublicationThis article examines Georg Simmel’s contribution to the understanding of how money functions in modern society, mainly scrutinizing his most important work on that topic, The Philosophy of Money, in the context of modernization theories. Modernization theories, as developed (most notably) by Marx, Weber, Durkheim, and Elias, attempted to explain the transition from feudalism and a closed agrarian economy to capitalism and industrial...

Analytical design method of reverse curves
PublicationThe paper deals with a new approach relating to the design of the region of railway track direction alteration adapted to Mobile Satellite Measurements technique. The method may be particularly useful in situations when both the straights of the route directions cannot be connected in an elementary way using a circular arc with transition curves; this also refers to the application of a compound curve. Thus the only solution becomes...

Detailed studies of superconducting properties of Y2Pd1.25Ge2.75
PublicationWe report a successful synthesis of a high-purity intermetallic germanide Y2Pd1.25Ge2.75, crystallizing in the disordered variant of the AlB2-type structure. A single-phase sample was obtained via arc-melting by deliberately tuning the composition out of the ideal 2:1:3 ratio. Specific heat, electrical resistivity and magnetization measurements show that the compound is a weakly-coupled (λ e-p = 0.58) type-II superconductor with...

Tymczasem...

Kształtowanie toru zwrotnego rozjazdu z odcinkami krzywizny liniowej
PublicationW pracy została przedstawiona analityczna metoda kształtowania toru zwrotnego rozjazdu kolejowego posiadającego na swojej długości odcinki krzywizny liniowej. Odróżnia go to w istotny sposób od rozwiązania typowego, stanowiącego pojedynczy łuk kołowy bez krzywych przejściowych. W metodzie tej dokonano identyfikacji problemu rozkładu krzywizny za pomocą równań różniczkowych. Uzyskane rozwiązania mają charakter uniwersalny; m. in....

Dążąc do spełnienia przyjętych warunków nałożonych na projektowany układ, projektant najczęściej koryguje podstawowe parametry geometryczne, tj. przechyłkę, promień łuku kołowego oraz długości krzywych przejściowych. W artykule...

The luminescence study of Ga2–x(Al0.68In0.32)xO3:Cr3+ coumpounds.
Open Research DataNear-infrared (NIR) phosphor-converted light-emitting diodes (pc-LEDs) are a highly efficient perspective NIR light source, with application hindered by a narrow emission band. In this work, we broaden the emission of a new series of NIR phosphors by controlling crystal structure disorder through cation cosubstitution. By substituting Ga3+ with (Al0.68In0.32)3+,...

Polymer electrolytes with ionic liquids
PublicationSolid polymer electrolytes are solutions of salts in the macromolecular polymeric compound. Excellent process ability, flexibility, non-flammability and non-reactivity make them ideal materials for electrochemical devices. The problem in their use is limited conductivity. It increases with increasing salt concentration in the polymer, but at the same time the condition is to increase the glass transition temperature of the polymer...
