Analiza statystyczna ujawniła znaczące różnice w składzie chemicznym próbek wody z mgły w zależności od regionu geograficznego, wysokości pobierania próbek, ale także od momentu pobierania próbki. Pokazano, że moment przechylający związany jest z wypiętrzeniem wody na pokładzie ponad poziom wody zaburtowej, pochodzącym od fali. Omówiono trzy metody wyznaczania kąta przechyłu, wywołanego wodą na pokładzie. Zidentyfikowano krytyczne wypiętrzenie wody, przy którym następuje utrata stateczności statku.
