Fast Algorithms for Identification of Time-Varying Systems with Both Smooth and Discontinuous Parameter Changes
PublikacjaThe problem of noncausal identification of a time-varying linear system subject to both smooth and occasional jump-type changes is considered and solved using the preestimation technique combined with the basis function approach to modeling the variability of system parameters. The proposed estimation algorithms yield very good parameter tracking results and are computationally attractive.

Design of new cholinesterase inhibitors based on phosphorus analogs of tacrine as potential anti-Alzheimer’s disease agents
PublikacjaBased on the analysis of the determined free binding energy (using the AutoDock Vina 1.1.2 docking program), the most potent cholinesterase inhibitors were selected. Moreover, studies of 3D visualization of the results of molecular modeling led to the identification of potential sites for the interaction of new potential inhibitors with amino acid residues building active sites of investigated cholinesterases.

A Model of Thermal Energy Storage According to the Convention of Bond Graphs (BG) and State Equations (SE)
PublikacjaThe main advantage of the use of the Bond Graphs method and State Equations for modeling energy systems with a complex structure (marine power plants, hybrid vehicles, etc.) is the ability to model the system components of different physical nature using identical theoretical basis. The paper presents a method of modeling thermal energy storage, which is in line with basic BG theory. Critical comments have been put forward concerning...

Low-cost performance-driven modelling of compact microwave components with two-layer surrogates and gradient kriging
PublikacjaUtilization of electromagnetic (EM) simulation tools has become indispensable for reliable evaluation of microwave components. As the cost of an individual analysis may already be considerable, the computational overhead associated with EM-driven tasks that require massive simulations (e.g., optimization) may turn prohibitive. One of mitigation methods is the employment of equivalent network models. Yet, they are incapable of accounting...

Low-cost multi-criterial design optimization of compact microwave passives using constrained surrogates and dimensionality reduction
PublikacjaDesign of contemporary microwave circuits is a challenging task. Typically, it has to take into account several performance requirements and constraints. The design objectives are often conflicting and their simultaneous improvement may not be possible; instead, compromise solutions are to be sought. Representative examples are miniaturized microwave passives where reduction of the circuit size has a detrimental effect on its electrical...

Kriging Models for Microwave Filters
PublikacjaSurrogate modeling of microwave filters’ response is discussed. In particular, kriging is used to model either the scattering parameters of the filter or the rational representation of the filter’s characteristics. Surrogate models for these two variants of kriging are validated in solving a microwave filter optimization problem. A clear advantage of surrogate models based on the rational representation over the models based on scattering...

Neural Network-Based Sequential Global Sensitivity Analysis Algorithm
PublikacjaPerforming global sensitivity analysis (GSA) can be challenging due to the combined effect of the high computational cost, but it is also essential for engineering decision making. To reduce this cost, surrogate modeling such as neural networks (NNs) are used to replace the expensive simulation model in the GSA process, which introduces the additional challenge of finding the minimum number of training data samples required to...

Hydrodynamic Model of the New Waterway through the Vistula Spit
PublikacjaThe decision to build a new waterway (strait) in the Polish part of the Vistula Spit was made in 2017. The new connection between the Gulf of Gdańsk and the Vistula Lagoon is planned as an artificial navigable channel with a lock and a small port. During storm surges and wind tides in the gulf or in the lagoon, sluicing will be re-quired for vessels to tackle the Vistula Spit. This procedure does not require significant water flow...

PRESSURE DROP OF HFE7000 AND HFE7100 IN FLOW CONDENSATION IN MINICHANNELS WITH ACCOUNT OF NON-ADIABATIC EFFECTS
PublikacjaFlow boiling and flow condensation are often regarded as two opposite or symmetrical phenomena involving the change of phase. There is a temptation to describe both these phenomena with one only correlation. From amongst the structures present in flow boiling and flow condensation at least the annular flow structure seems to be mostly appropriate to the common modeling. However, the shear stress acting between vapor phase and liquid...
