Determination of safety indicators of the freight wagons by mobile systems
PublicationThe organization of the movement of freight trains in Ukraine is an important factor in integrating the country’s railway transport into the European system. A situation that requires a significant renewal of the freight wagon park with modern wagons to meet the freight transportation requirements has arisen. Also, a significant drawback of railway transport in Ukraine is the limitation of the speed of trains, which include freight...

Application of principal component and hierarchical cluster analysis in classifying defects of trolleybuses
PublicationThe failure rate of vehicles is a relevant task, which is strictly connected with the reliability of transportation systems. Methods of data analysis allow us to find similarity and differences between failure rates of several parts of trolleybuses. This paper deals with the statistic of failure of trolleybuses from the municipal transport company of Gdynia (Poland).

Ionic liquids in the microextraction techniques: the influence of ILs structure and properties
PublicationIonic liquids (ILs) are composed entirely of ions thus they possess unique properties, including negligible volatility, a liquid state in a broad range of temperatures and ability to change them depending on the chosen type of anion and cation, which make ILs unique and useful for many applications in sample preparation techniques. A deeper understanding of the nature of ILs and the impact of their structure on their parameters...

Aggregation of nonionic surfactants in imidazolium ionic liquids
PublicationMicellar aggregation of surfactants in aqueous solutions has been described in terms of the balance between dispersive interactions of the hydrocarbon part of the amphiphilic molecule, and the hydration and electrostatic repulsive effects of hydrophilic head group. Changing the interactions by replacing water with another polar solvent, such as amides or glycols, has been studied to a smaller extent (Singh, Saleem et al. 1980;...

A Linear Phase Filter in Quadruplet Topology With Frequency-Dependent Couplings
PublicationThis letter presents a design of a linear phase microwave bandpass filter. The filter is composed of four resonators arranged in the quadruplet topology. Making the cross and one direct coupling dispersive gives additional design flexibility. The first advantage of using frequency-dependent couplings is the possibility to chose an arbitrary location of a pair of complex transmission zeros (TZs) in the s-domain. The second one is...

Accurate design of pseudoelliptic inline SIW filters with frequency-dependent couplings
PublicationThis paper presents an accurate synthesis method for inline SIW (Substrate Integrated Waveguide) generalized Chebyshev bandpass filters with frequency-dependent couplings. The technique is based on the synthesis of a coupling matrix that takes into account the impedance of the frequency-dependent stub. Thus, a loading effect compensation in adjacent resonators (via resonant frequency adjustment) and coupling elements (via coupling-value...

Connected & Automated Urban Mobility, Zombie Cars and Kitchen Knives: Will Autonomous Automobiles, Self-Driving Car-Sharing and Ride-Hailing, and Driverless Shuttles Harm Cities?
PublicationThere is a deficiency of supportive evidence to verify thesis that cities are prepared for mobility revolution which already begun and will advance exponentially. Furthermore, present revisions mostly emphasize how emerging mobility solutions will alter transport efficiency or affect mass transit usage, rather than on urban morphology, metropolitan society, nor local communities. Author is thoroughly concerned that municipalities...

Minimizing Greenhouse Gas Emissions From Ships Using a Pareto Multi-Objective Optimization Approach
PublicationTo confront climate change, decarbonization strategies must change the global economy. According to statements made as part of the European Green Deal, maritime transport should also become drastically less polluting. As a result, the price of transport must reflect the impact it has on the environment and on health. In such a framework, the purpose of this paper is to suggest a novel method for minimizing emissions...

Impact analysis of surface roughness of the plate-plate measuring system on resistance torque in interaction with MR fluid
PublicationMagnetorheological (MR) fluids are complex suspensions of magnetic particles in a non-magnetic carrier fluid. They exhibit ‘smart’ properties that enable them to change their rheological parameters in response to a change in the external magnetic field applied. This behavior is used in some engineering solutions, e.g. MR clutches or brakes. For such systems to work correctly, the resistance torque achieved by contact with the...
