  • The motion influence on respiration rate estimation from low-resolution thermal sequences during attention focusing tasks

    Publication

Global aging has led to a growing expectancy for creating home-based platforms for indoor monitoring of elderly people. A motivation is to provide a non-intrusive technique, which does not require special activities of a patient but allows for remote monitoring of elderly people while assisting them with their daily activities. The goal of our study was to evaluate motion performed by a person focused on a specific task and check...

Hazardous chemicals found in air indoors can adversely affect the functioning of the human body and cause many respiratory and circulatory diseases. Harmful chemical compounds (mainly volatile organic compounds and...

Mitochondria-originating reactive oxygen species control T cell receptor (TCR)-induced gene expression. Here, we show that TCR-triggered activation of ADP-dependent glucokinase (ADPGK), an alternative, glycolytic enzyme typical for Archaea, mediates generation of the oxidative signal. We also show that ADPGK is localized in the endoplasmic reticulum and suggest that its active site protrudes toward the cytosol. The ADPGK-driven...

    Publication

    - CHEMICAL ENGINEERING JOURNAL - Year 2023

Manganese-dependent anaerobic oxidation of methane (Mn-AOM) is a major methane sink and vital to mitigating global warming. However, it is difficult for microorganisms to mediate electron transfer between the hardly dissolved CH4 and insoluble Mn(IV) minerals, leading to poor understanding of species mediating Mn-AOM. This study successfully enriched an anaerobic consortium mediating AOM driven by Mn-dependent respiratory growth,...

  • The smoothness test for a density function

The problem of testing hypothesis that a density function has no more than μ derivatives versus it has more than μ derivatives is considered. For a solution, the L2 norms of wavelet orthogonal projections on some orthogonal ‘‘differences’’ of spaces from a multiresolution analysis is used. For the construction of the smoothness test an asymptotic distribution of a smoothness estimator is used. To analyze that asymptotic distribution,...
