A Method of Real-Time Non-uniform Speech Stretching
PublicationDeveloped method of real-time non-uniform speech stretching is presented. The proposed solution is based on the well-known SOLA algorithm(Synchronous Overlap and Add). Non-uniform time-scale modification isachieved by the adjustment of time scaling factor values in accordance with thesignal content. Dependently on the speech unit (vowels/consonants), instantaneousrate of speech (ROS), and speech signal presence, values of the scalingfactor...

Non-Nutritive Bioactive Compounds in Food of Plant Origin
PublicationThe increasing knowledge on the health benefits of certain food ingredients, in particular, those of plant origin, opened the discussion of the possibility of using edible plants or their active components in the prevention of non-communicable diseases. The health-promoting properties of plant foods are related to the presence of non-nutritive compounds, mainly plant secondary metabolites, which can affect many biological mechanisms...

On Non-holonomic Boundary Conditions within the Nonlinear Cosserat Continuum
PublicationWithin the framework of the nonlinear micropolar elastic continuum we discuss non-holonomic kinematic boundary conditions. By non-holonomic boundary conditions we mean linear relations between virtual displacements and virtual rotations given on the boundary. Such boundary conditions can be used for modelling of complex material interactions in the vicinity of the boundaries and interfaces.

Review of non- welded piping technologies on offshore equipment projects
PublicationThe aim of this article are considerations on welded and non-welded tube connection technologies, with advantages and disadvantages of both. After choosing non-welded solutions as the assembly method of choice, the thesis progresses to describing the most widely-used tube connection technologies (JIC, Ermeto, retain ring flanges, flared tube flanges and other, minor, solutions) and their properties.

Checkpointing of Parallel MPI Applications using MPI One-sided API with Support for Byte-addressable Non-volatile RAM
PublicationThe increasing size of computational clusters results in an increasing probability of failures, which in turn requires application checkpointing in order to survive those failures. Traditional checkpointing requires data to be copied from application memory into persistent storage medium, which increases application execution time as it is usually done in a separate step. In this paper we propose to use emerging byte-addressable...

Bell-Type Inequalities from the Perspective of Non-Newtonian Calculus
PublicationA class of quantum probabilities is reformulated in terms of non-Newtonian calculus and projective arithmetic. The model generalizes spin-1/2 singlet state probabilities discussed in Czachor (Acta Physica Polonica:139 70–83, 2021) to arbitrary spins s. For s → ∞ the formalism reduces to ordinary arithmetic and calculus. Accordingly, the limit “non-Newtonian to Newtonian” becomes analogous to the classical limit of a quantum theory

Adaptive Wavelet-Based Correction of Non-Anechoic Antenna Measurements
PublicationNon-anechoic measurements represent an affordable alternative to evaluation of antenna performance in expensive, dedicated facilities. Due to interferences and noise from external sources of EM radiation, far-field results obtained in non-ideal conditions require additional post-processing. Conventional correction algorithms rely on manual tuning of parameters, which make them unsuitable for reliable testing of prototypes. In this...

Non-proportional full-order Luenberger observers of induction motors
PublicationThe paper recapitulates recently conducted investigations of non-proportional Luenberger observers, applied to reconstruction of state variables of induction motors. Three structures of non-proportional observers are analyzed, a proportional-integral observer, modified integral observer and observer with integrators. Criteria for gain selection of the observer are described, classical ones based on poles, as well as additional,...

Non-Wave Variations in Temperature Caused by Sound in a Chemically Reacting Gas
PublicationA weakly nonlinear generation of non-acoustic modes in the field of sound in a gas is considered. An exotericchemical reaction of A->B type, which takes place in a gas, may be reversible or not. Two types of sound areconsidered, low-frequency and high-frequency as compared with the characteristic time of a chemical reaction. For both these cases, the governing equations of non-acoustic modes are derived and conclusions of the efficiencyof...

Positive solutions to Sturm–Liouville problems with non-local boundary conditions
PublicationIn this paper, the existence of at least three non-negative solutions to non-local boundary-value problems for second-order differential equations with deviating arguments α and ζ is investigated. Sufficient conditions, which guarantee the existence of positive solutions, are obtained using the Avery–Peterson theorem. We discuss our problem for both advanced and delayed arguments. An example is added to illustrate the results.

Flood Routing by the Non-Linear Muskingum Model: Conservation of Mass and Momentum
PublicationIn this paper, the conservative properties of the Muskingum equation, commonly applied to solve river flood routing, are analysed. The aim of this analysis is to explain the causes ofthe mass balance error, which is observed in the numerical solutions of its non-linear form. The linear Muskingum model has been considered as a semi-discrete form of the kinematic wave equation and therefore it was possible to derive its two non-linear...

The stability and robustness of the proposed sliding mode observer have been investigated under parametric and unstructured uncertainty in the system dynamics. In order to ensure an unambiguous non-linear...
