Places of worship, spiritual healing and urban regeneration
PublikacjaMany researchers demonstrated that it is possible to help people achieve mental and physical regeneration with proper architecture, urban and landscape planning. The term therapeutic landscapes could also be applied to places of worship, where people gather for spiritual healing and renewal. Public space that they offer is inclusively open to all. Addition- ally, they serve to reinvigorate the places where they are located. Shrines...

Similar concentration of surfactants in rural and urban areas
PublikacjaSince surfactants are used in various products, they end up in surface and wastewater. Surfactants may therefore impact ecosystems and living organisms. Actually, only few anionic surfactants and some alkylphenols are regulated. There is no comprehensive evaluation of surfactants in the atmosphere, surfaces and waters of areas of increasing anthropic levels. Here, we measured the levels of cationic, anionic and nonionic surfactants...

METHODS OF TEACHING SPATIAL AND URBAN PLANNING AT GEODESY AND CARTOGRAPHY
PublikacjaSpatial and town planning is a complex process caused by the interaction between natural and social systems at different temporal and spatial scales. That is the reason, why it is difficult to introduce this subject to students studying disciplines other than spatial or urban planning. The main problem is to define goals, the scope and expected educational effects. The second step is to choose the appropriate teaching and assessment...

Correlation between in vitro and in vivo data on food digestion. What can we predict with static in vitro digestion models?
PublikacjaDuring the last decade, there has been a growing interest in understanding food's digestive fate in order to strengthen the possible effects of food on human health. Ideally, food digestion should be studied in vivo on humans but this is not always ethically and financially possible. Therefore, simple in vitro digestion models mimicking the gastrointestinal tract have been proposed as alternatives to in vivo experiments. Thus,...
