ANALYSIS OF THE p53 PROTEIN GENE EXPRESSION MODEL
PublikacjaWe study the asymptotic behaviour of the solutions of the p53-Mdm2 model proposed by Monk (2003). The p53 gene is crucial for cellular inhibition of the angiogenesis process, while Mdm2 is a negative regulator of the p53 tumor-suppressor. We investigate the stability of the positive steady state and perform some numerical experiments.

Generalized Dobrushin Coefficients on Banach Spaces
PublikacjaThe asymptotic behavior of iterates of bounded linear operators (not necessarily positive), acting on Banach spaces, is studied. Through the Dobrushin ergodicity coefficient, we generalize some ergodic theorems obtained earlier for classical Markov semigroups acting on L1 (or positive operators on abstract state spaces).

Trustworthiness and Subversion in Large Service- Oriented Multi-Agent Systems under Virtual Anonymity and Blind Provider Selection
PublikacjaTo promote honest service provision in multi-agent systems, a Computational Trustworthiness and Rating scheme collects service ratings and computes agents' trustworthiness levels (TLs). Studies of existing schemes fail to reflect closed-loop dynamics of TLs arising from the mutual influence of agents' behavior and TLs, and to capture relevant properties. Recent simulative and analytical models produce results tied to a particular...

Improvement of Performance Level of Steel Moment-Resisting Frames Using Tuned Mass Damper System
PublikacjaIn this paper, parameters of the tuned mass dampers are optimized to improve the performance level of steel structures during earthquakes. In this regard, a six-story steel frame is modeled using a concentrated plasticity method. Then, the optimum parameters of the Tuned Mass Damper (TMD) are determined by minimizing the maximum drift ratio of the stories. The performance level of the structure is also forced to be located in a...

The number of tacks should be balanced to assure appropriate mesh fixation and not to induce post-operative pain. Numerical simulations help to find this balance. The study is aimed at creating a proper numerical model of a knitted surgical mesh subjected to boundary conditions and load occurring in the abdominal cavity. Continuous,...

This shows the typical long-term behaviour of iterates of quadratic stochastic operators.
