Shub’s conjecture for smooth longitudinal maps of S^m
PublicationLet f be a smooth map of the m-dimensional sphere Sm to itself, preserving the longitudinal foliation. We estimate from below the number of fixed points of the iterates of f , reduce Shub’s conjecture for longitudinal maps to a lower dimensional classical version, and prove the conjecture in case m = 2 and in a weak form for m = 3.

PublicationVisualization of Wikipedia categories using Self Organizing Mapsshows an overview of categories and their relations, helping to narrow down search domains. Selecting particular neurons this approach enables retrieval of conceptually similar categories. PublicationA complete – system of Maxwell equations is splitting into independent subsystems by means of a special dynamic projecting technique. The technique relies upon a direct link between field components that determine correspondent subspaces. The explicit form of links and corresponding subspace evolution equations are obtained in conditions of certain symmetry, it is illustrated by examples of spherical and quasi-one-dimensional waves.

Generating sequences of Lefschetz numbers of iterates
PublicationDu, Huang and Li showed in 2003 that the class of Dold–Fermat sequences coincides with the class of Newton sequences, which are defined in terms of socalled generating sequences. The sequences of Lefschetz numbers of iterates form an important subclass of Dold–Fermat (thus also Newton) sequences. Heteroclinic solutions of Allen-Cahn type equations with a general elliptic operator
PublicationWe consider a generalization of the Allen-Cahn type equation in divergence form $-\rm{div}(\nabla G(\nabla u(x,y)))+F_u(x,y,u(x,y))=0$. This is more general than the usual Laplace operator. We prove the existence and regularity of heteroclinic solutions under standard ellipticity and $m$-growth conditions.

Discrete Modelling of Micro-structural Phenomena in Granular Shear Zones
PublicationThe micro-structure evolution in shear zones in cohesionless sand for quasi-static problems was analyzed with a discrete element method (DEM). The passive sand failure for a very rought retaining wall undergoing horizontal translation towards the sand backfill was discussed. Direct detection of quantum entanglement
PublicationBasing on positive maps separability criterion we propose the experimentally viable, direct detection of quantum entanglement. It is efficient and does not require any a priori knowledge about the state. For two qubits it provides a sharp (i.e., “if and only if”) separability test and estimation of amount of entanglement. We view this method as a new form of quantum computation, namely, as a decision problem with quantum data structure.

Synthesis of new antrapyridazone derivatives - a novel group of anticancer agents active on a multidrugresistant(MDR) tumor cell lines
PublicationNovel antrapyridazone derivatives were synthesized and biologically evaluated in order tobroaden the data on structure-activity relationship of this class of cytostatics. Recent literaturedata prove that acetamides react better with aryl chlorides. A new approach based onintroduction of other amides form into aromatic ring in Ullmann was tested. This new methodcould give better yields and make purification step more convenient.

One-step formation of n-alkenyl-malonamides and n-alkenyl-thiomalonamides from carbamoyl meldrum's acids.
PublicationA one-pot synthesis for the preparation of N-alkenyl-malonamides and N-alkenyl-thiomalonamides was developed. 5-[Hydroxy/mercapto(aryl/alkylamino)methylene]-2,2-dimethyl-1,3-dioxane-4,6-dione act as a source of ketenes that react with the tautomeric form of alkyl-(2-phenyl-propylidene)-amines. A possible [2+2] or [4+2] cycloaddition product of ketene to imines was not observed.

Functional delay fractional equations
PublicationIn this paper, we discuss functional delay fractional equations. A Banach fixed point theorem is applied to obtain the existence (uniqueness) theorem. We also discuss such problems when a delay argument has a form α(t) = αt, 0 < α < 1, by Rusing the method of successive approximations. Some existence results are also formulated in this case. Diaminophosphinoboranes: effective reagents for phosphinoboration of CO2
PublicationThe monomeric diaminophosphinoboranes readily react with CO2 under mild conditions to cleanly form products of the general formula R2P-C(=O)-O-B(NR2)2 in the absence of a catalyst. The isolated products from the CO2-phosphinoboration were fully characterized by NMR spectroscopy, IR spectroscopy, and X-ray diffraction.
