On the mechanism of photocatalytic reactions on CuxO@TiO2 core–shell photocatalysts
PublicationTitania (titanium(IV) oxide) is a highly active, stable, cheap and abundant photocatalyst, and is thus commonly applied in various environmental applications. Redundant information encoding in QED during decoherence
PublicationBroadly understood decoherence processes in quantum electrodynamics, induced by neglecting either the radiation [L. Landau, Z. Phys. 45, 430 (1927)] or the charged matter [N. Bohr and L. Rosenfeld, K. Danske Vidensk. Selsk, Math.-Fys. Medd. XII, 8 (1933)], have been studied from the dawn of the theory. However, what happens in between, when a part of the radiation may be observed, as is the case in many real-life situations, has...

Analysis of the image force effects on the recombination at the donor-acceptor interface in organic bulk heterojunction solar cells
PublicationWe consider the influence of image force effects on the recombination at the donor-acceptor interface in organic bulk heterojunction solar cells. The conclusion is that the charge carriers of one sign located in the material with lower permittivity recombine at the boundary between donor and acceptor phases. This process competes with the recombination of opposite sign charge carriers, leading to the reduction of the Langevin-type...

Nongeminate recombination in organic bulk heterojunction solar cells: Contribution of exciton–polaron interaction
PublicationA new model to explain nongeminate recombination in organic bulk heterojunction solar cells is presented. The exciton–polaron interaction gives visible contribution to the reduction of Langevin recombination. An analytical formula,...

Electronic structure calculations in electrolyte solutions: Methods for neutralization of extended charged interfaces
PublicationDensity functional theory (DFT) is often used for simulating extended materials such as infinite crystals or surfaces, under periodic boundary conditions (PBCs). In such calculations, when the simulation cell has non-zero charge, electrical neutrality has to be imposed, and this is often done via a uniform background charge of opposite sign (“jellium”). This artificial neutralization does not occur in reality, where a different...
