Electron collisions with cyanoacetylene HC3N : Vibrational excitation and dissociative electron attachment
PublicationWe experimentally probe electron collisions with HC3N in the energy range from 0 to 10 eV with the focus on vibrational excitation and dissociative electron attachment. The vibrational excitation cross sections show a number of resonances which are mode specific: the two dominant π∗ resonances are visible in the excitation of all the vibrational modes; however, broad σ ∗ resonances are visible only in certain bond-stretching vibrational...

A Time Delay Controller Included Terminal Sliding Mode and Fuzzy Gain Tuning for Underwater Vehicle-Manipulator Systems
PublicationAn improved Time Delay Control (TDC) method for an Underwater Vehicle-Manipulator System (UVMS) is proposed. The proposed controller consists of three terms: a time-delay-estimation term that cancels nonlinearities of the UVMS dynamics, a Terminal Sliding Mode (TSM) term that provides a fast response and a PID term that reduces the tracking error. In addition the proposed controller uses fuzzy rules to adaptively tune the gains...

The antenna incorporates a hybrid ridged and corrugated structure. A double-ridged section is responsible for ensuring a wideband operation, whereas the corrugated section supports the hybrid mode. The antenna impedance bandwidth (VSWR < 2) is 6 GHz to 20 GHz. Excellent performance...

Topology recognition and leader election in colored networks
PublicationTopology recognition and leader election are fundamental tasks in distributed computing in networks. The first of them requires each node to find a labeled isomorphic copy of the network, while the result of the second one consists in a single node adopting the label 1 (leader), with all other nodes adopting the label 0 and learning a path to the leader. We consider both these problems in networks whose nodes are equipped with...

Selection of Visual Descriptors for the Purpose of Multi-camera Object Re-identification
PublicationA comparative analysis of various visual descriptors is presented in this chapter. The descriptors utilize many aspects of image data: colour, texture, gradient, and statistical moments. The descriptor list is supplemented with local features calculated in close vicinity of key points found automatically in the image. The goal of the analysis is to find descriptors that are best suited for particular task, i.e. re-identification...

On adaptive selection of estimation bandwidth for analysis of locally stationary multivariate processes
PublicationWhen estimating the correlation/spectral structure of a locally stationary process, one should choose the so-called estimation bandwidth, related to the effective width of the local analysis window. The choice should comply with the degree of signal nonstationarity. Too small bandwidth may result in an excessive estimation bias, while too large bandwidth may cause excessive estimation variance. The paper presents a novel method...

Direct detection of quantum entanglement
PublicationBasing on positive maps separability criterion we propose the experimentally viable, direct detection of quantum entanglement. It is efficient and does not require any a priori knowledge about the state. For two qubits it provides a sharp (i.e., “if and only if”) separability test and estimation of amount of entanglement. We view this method as a new form of quantum computation, namely, as a decision problem with quantum data structure.
