Znaczenie kobiet w firmach rodzinnych: wczoraj, dziś i jutro
PublikacjaAbstract: This paper provides a review of the literature on women in family businesses. Based on a structured literature review (SLR) method, 81 articles and other research works published since 1997 were analysed. The aim was to contribute to the literature and present what is new in the recent debate and how the evolutionary trend looks like. Over the last twenty years only a few investigations have studied women in family firms....

Białowieża primeval forest as an example of transfrontier co-operation between Poland and Bielarus
PublikacjaThe Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs is completing their work on the agreement on local border traffic (May 2009.) At the final stage of the works, the list of the towns and villages situated within the area covered by the so-called "local traffic" on both the Polish and the Belarusian sides of the border is being verified. The "border belt" area, whose residents will be able to move between the bordering countries under the...

Convex set of quantum states with positive partial transpose analysed by hit and run algorithm
PublikacjaThe convex set of quantum states of a composite K×K system with positive partial transpose is analysed. A version of the hit and run algorithm is used to generate a sequence of random points covering this set uniformly and an estimation for the convergence speed of the algorithm is derived. For K >3 or K=3 this algorithm works faster than sampling over the entire set of states and verifying whether the partial transpose is positive....

A Centralized Reputation System for MANETs Based on Observed Path Performance
PublikacjaA reputation system for MANETs is described that attempts to deduce nodal trustworthiness (forwarding behaviour) from observed end-to-end path performance. The trustworthiness deduction algorithm produces interval estimates and works well if node misbehaviour is not selec-tive with respect to traversing paths. Nodal reputation levels are next calculated in the spirit of generous tit-for-tat so as to best reflect momentary nodal...

How the Depths of the Danish Straits Shape Gdańsk's Port and City Spatial Development
PublikacjaThe depths of the Danish Straits limit the drafts of ships entering the Baltic Sea. The largest ships calling the Baltic in a laden condition are called Baltimax. The article presents how the dredging works carried out in the Danish Straits in the 1970s enabled the development of the Port of Gdańsk and consequently also influenced the city, being a residential base for employees of the new port and shipyards. The analysed case...

Impact assessment culture in the European Union. Time for something new?
PublikacjaCurrent approaches and cultures for the economic evaluations of environmental and health policies may suffer from excessive reliance on a standard neoclassic economic toolbox that neglects alternative perspectives. This may prematurely limit the spectrum of available policy options. Here we show how the inclusion of neglected currents of thought such as non-Ricardian economics, bioeconomics and a set of qualitative-quantitative...

Revealing dynamic changes of the volatile profile of food samples using PTR–MS
PublikacjaVolatile compounds carry valuable information regarding the properties of foodstuffs. Volatiles emitted from food can be used as, for example, indicators of quality, shelf-life, or authenticity. A better understanding of the multitude of transformations which occur during food processing could facilitate the optimisation of production, increase the desirability of food products, and also their wholesomeness. However, as some of...
