TIME-AND-SPACE STRUCTURE OF FORCE-DRIVEN RIGID SPHEREWAVEFIELD
PublikacjaThis paper introduces a time-domain, causality-inspired description of a vector-source acoustic wavefield of arbitrary time evolution, where a sphere is a practical realisation of quasi-point contact surface without which a point force would not be able to exert an impact onto non-viscous fluid. At every space location, the resulting acoustic field is described by a pair of physical variables characterising the time evolution of...

Periodic Points for Sphere Maps Preserving MonopoleFoliations
PublikacjaLet S^2 be a two-dimensional sphere. We consider two types of its foliations with one singularity and maps f:S^2→S^2 preserving these foliations, more and less regular. We prove that in both cases f has at least |deg(f)| fixed points, where deg(f) is a topological degree of f. In particular, the lower growth rate of the number of fixed points of the iterations of f is at least log|deg(f)|. This confirms the Shub’s conjecture in...

Marcinkiewicz Averages of Smooth Orthogonal Projections on Sphere
PublikacjaWe construct a single smooth orthogonal projection with desired localization whose average under a group action yields the decomposition of the identity operator. For any full rank lattice \Gamma ⊂ R^d , a smooth projection is localized in a neighborhood of an arbitrary precompact fundamental domain R^d / \Gamma. We also show the existence of a highly localized smooth orthogonal projection, whose Marcinkiewicz average under the...

Magnetic switching of Kerker scattering in spherical microresonators
PublikacjaMagneto-optical materials have become a key tool in functional nanophotonics, mainly due to their ability to offer active tuning between two different operational states in subwavelength structures. In this...

Multiresolution analysis and adaptive estimation on a sphere using stereographic wavelets
PublikacjaWe construct an adaptive estimator of a density function on d dimensional unit sphere Sd (d ≥ 2), using a new type of spherical frames. We prove that our estimator achieves an optimal rate of convergence on some Besov type class of functions by adapting to unknown smoothness....

We restrict ourselves our analysis to the case of linearized second strain gradient isotropic elasticity...
