Consideration of Pseudo Strain Energy in Determination of Fatigue Life and Microdamage Healing of Asphalt Mastics
PublicationRest periods between cyclic loads can lead to recovery of damage and extension of fatigue life. This phenomenon is referred to as healing. Healing is clearly observed in bituminous materials, such as asphalt mastics, which belong to the components of asphalt mixtures. Due to the nature of road pavement traffic loading, which is characterized by series of intermittent pulses with rest periods, consideration of healing is necessary...

An in-depth look at the tire rubber hardness influence on tire/road noise measurements
PublicationWhen assessing the acoustic quality of a road pavement with the close-proximity (CPX) or the on-board sound intensity (OBSI) method, the rubber hardness of the reference tire substantially affects the measurement. Practical experience shows that measurement tires can get significantly harder within a single measurement season. This is why one would like to normalize measurements to a reference rubber hardness. The recently published...

Accurate rolling resistance Rolling resistance measurements can be influenced by a number of factors
PublicationTire rolling resistance is one of the most difficult-to-measure parameters of the tire/ pavement interface, especially if road measurements are required. First of all, it is necessary to measure a fairly small force in the system that is heavily loaded by other forces and subjected to many adverse effects causing measurement errors. The second problem is related to the fact that tire rolling resistance depends on many factors,...

So far, comprehensive studies have been carried out mainly using quasi-static laboratory tests focusing on the interlayer shear strength at failure. However, it is generally recognized that cyclic shear testing will lead to the determination of parameters which are more closely linked to...

Design/methodology/approach The usefulness of pre-existing designs for rapid design of antennas is investigated. The proposed approach exploits the database existing antenna base designs to determine a good starting point for structure optimization and its response sensitivities....

PROBLEMY ZWIĄZANE Z ZASTOSOWANIEM NANOTECHNOLOGII W TERMOIZOLACJI BUDYNKÓW
PublicationBudownictwo i architektura były zawsze ściśle związane z rozwojem technologicznym a ciągły postęp w badaniach nad inżynierią materiałową pozwalał na uzyskiwanie bardziej wydajnych i wytrzymałych materiałów. Dotyczy to nie tylko elementów konstrukcyjnych budynku ale także technologii związanych z jego wykończeniem. Obecnie coraz większą rolę w budownictwie i architekturze odgrywa pojęcie nanotechnologii. Dziedzina nauki, zdawałoby...

Accelerated design optimization of miniaturized microwave passives by design reusing and Kriging interpolation surrogates
PublicationElectromagnetic (EM) analysis has become ubiquitous in the design of microwave components and systems. One of the reasons is the increasing topological complexity of the circuits. Their reliable evaluation—at least at the design closure stage—can no longer be carried out using analytical or equivalent network representations. This is especially pertinent to miniaturized structures, where considerable EM cross-coupling effects occurring...

Modelowanie matematyczne górnej sieci trakcyjnej dla potrzeb diagnostyki odbieraków prądu
PublicationGórna sieć trakcyjna jest obecnie najbardziej skutecznym sposobem zasilania kolejowych pojazdów elektrycznych. Wzrost prędkości pojazdów zwiększa pobór mocy i wymaga zapewnienia właściwej współpracy odbieraków prądu pojazdów z siecią jezdną.

The roadway bridge over Vistula River in Plock - design and construction.
PublicationThe paper presents the design and construction works of the Roadway Bridge over Vistula River in Plock (Poland), designed by first two paper authors as being the winners of international competition for design oraganized by Polish association of the bridge engineers. Total length of the bridge is 1,200 m; 615 m is the length of main bridge part over the Vistula riverbed, and 585 m is the length of access bridge part over river...
