Ageing Workforce – a Challenge for Organizations
PublicationAgeing and its consequences are most frequently analysed in macroscale. If the analyses apply to enterprises, they usually cover working conditions or motivations of the seniors’ choice between continuing employment and retirement. The article discusses slightly different themes, namely the awareness of demographic changes, their consequences for the organization and the new professional role of older people in the new demographic...

Metrics for green analytical chemistry
PublicationGreen analytical chemistry, although not being a new concept, does not have a greenness metrics system. Green chemistry metrics are not suitable for analytical procedure assessment because they often refer to the mass of the product. Some efforts have been made to develop suitable metrics for analytical chemistry. Some are simple to use but do not cover all aspects of analytical methods’ environmental impact. Others are more comprehensive...

The Influence of the Cuboid Float’s Parameters on the Stability of a Floating Building
PublicationUsually, the concept of sufficient stability of a floating structure is connected with the capacity to keep a small heel angle despite the moment of heeling. The variable responsible for these characteristics is the initial metacentric height, which is the relation between the hydrostatic features of the pontoon and the mass properties of the entire object. This article answers the questions of how heavy the floating system should...

Analysis of the impact of AOP on source code quality: Paradox of aspect-oriented separation of concerns
PublicationAlmost four decades ago, Parnas advocated modularity for the sake of changeability, independent development, and comprehensibility. The recipe for modularization is to define a clean interface, hide an implementation detail, keep low coupling and high cohesion. Although modules have taken many forms over the years from functions and procedures to classes, no form has been capable of expressing so-called crosscutting concerns in...
