Acid-aided epoxy-amine curing reaction as reflected in epoxy/Fe3O4 nanocomposites: Chemistry, mechanism, and fracture behavior
PublicationThis work seeks to answer the question whether or not the presence of acid functional groups accelerate epoxyamine curing reaction. Epoxy/Fe3O4 nanocomposite was considered as a case, where discussions are based on chemistry, mechanism behind curing reactions and fracture behavior influenced by acid assistance to crosslinking. Fe3O4 magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) with nanosilica decorative layer (B-MNP) were synthesized and subsequently...

Should Polish banks be domesticated?
PublicationThe financial crisis revealed vulnerabilities in the regulation and supervision of the banking system. The overarching goal of the proposal (Bazylea III and CRD IV) is to strengthen the resilience of the EU banking sector. The effects of these regulations will be detrimental to the Polish banking system and economy. This follows from the fact that listed banks in Poland are subsidiaries of international banking groups. The article...

Crystallization of space: Space-time fractals from fractal arithmetic
PublicationFractals such as the Cantor set can be equipped with intrinsic arithmetic operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) that map the fractal into itself. The arithmetics allows one to define calculus and algebra intrinsic to the fractal in question, and one can formulate classical and quantum physics within the fractal set. In particular, fractals in space-time can be generated by means of homogeneous spaces associated...
