Wspólnota mieszkańców - passé?
PublikacjaLocal community - a term associated with the notion of neighbourhood and the quality of living environment - do not seem attractive to architects in Poland nowadays. Following years of collectivism enforced by top-down political decisions, one can currently observe bottom-up movements - attempts of building local communities. This paper presents research of chosen case studies (both Polish and foreign) illustrating the above approach....

Shipping Low Frequency Noise and Its Propagation in Shallow Water
PublikacjaOne of the most significant factor influencing acoustical climate of the sea is underwater noise generated by moving ships. If the considered sea area has features of the shallow water, namely the wave frequency fulfils relation f < 10c/h, where c denotes phase speed of sound, and h is depths of the sea, then in certain distance from the wave source specific image of sound pressure distribution in the mean of wave modes appears....

The model of end-to-end call setup time calculation for Session Initiation Protocol
PublikacjaEnd-to-end call setup delay is one of the most important grade of service (GoS) parameters for VoIP networks with Session Initiation Protocol (SIP). A typical subscriber wants to have a connection established as soon as possible. From the operator's perspective call setup time is also crucial because he needs to know how probability of successful packet transmission on SIP links is related to a call setup delay. Then he can make...

A Reputation Scheme to Discourage Selfish QoS Manipulation in Two-Hop Wireless Relay Networks
PublikacjaIn wireless networks, stations can improve their received quality of service (QoS) by handling packets of source flows with higher priority. Additionally, in cooperative relay networks, the relays can handle transit flows with lower priority. We use game theory to model a two-hop relay network where each of the two involved stations can commit such selfish QoS manipulation. We design and evaluate a reputation-based incentive scheme...
