Finite-window RLS algorithms
PublikacjaTwo recursive least-squares (RLS) adaptive filtering algorithms are most often used in practice, the exponential and sliding (rectangular) window RLS algorithms. This popularity is mainly due to existence of low-complexity versions of these algorithms. PublikacjaThe high sensitivity with wide bandwidth is required for sensor applications in non-destructive testing (NDT). The sensitivity of piezoceramic sensors demands to minimize their noise especially thermal noise, polarisation noise and low frequency 1/f noise, which are the main sources of voltage or current fluctuation in this sort of sensors. For simplicity, only the piezoceramic part of sensor was under study. the theoretical and...

Rigid finite elements and multibody modelling used in estimation and reduction of rod vibrations
PublikacjaIn the paper, a mechanical set composed of a robot (manipulator) and of an elastic beam is considered. The beam is fixed to the top of the robot structure. In most of the similar cases, undesired vibrations can be excited in the beam. They are especially significant, when dynamics in the robot braking period is examined. In the paper, estimation and modification of length of the braking period is proposed, in order to reduce the...

GPU-Accelerated 3D Mesh Deformation for Optimization Based on the Finite Element Method
PublikacjaThis paper discusses a strategy for speeding up the mesh deformation process in the design-byoptimization of high-frequency components involving electromagnetic field simulations using the 3D finite element method (FEM). The mesh deformation is assumed to be described by a linear elasticity model of a rigid body; therefore, each time the shape of the device is changed, an auxiliary elasticity finite-element problem must be solved....

Accuracy, Memory and Speed Strategies in GPU-based Finite-Element Matrix-Generation
PublikacjaThis paper presents strategies on how to optimize GPU-based finite-element matrix-generation that occurs in the finite-element method (FEM) using higher order curvilinear elements. The goal of the optimization is to increase the speed of evaluation and assembly of large finite-element matrices on a single GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) while maintaining the accuracy of numerical integration at the desired level. For this reason,...

Solution of the dike-break problem using finite volume method and splitting technique
PublikacjaIn the paper the finite volume method (FVM) is presented for the solution of two-dimensional shallow water equations. These equations are frequently used to simulate the dam-break and dike-break induced flows. The applied numerical algorithm of FVM is based on the wave-propagation algorithm which ensures a stable solution and simultaneously minimizes the numerical errors. The dimensional decomposition according to the coordinate...

GPU Acceleration of Multilevel Solvers for Analysis of Microwave Components With Finite Element Method
PublikacjaThe letter discusses a fast implementation of the conjugate gradient iterative method with ${rm E}$-field multilevel preconditioner applied to solving real symmetric and sparse systems obtained with vector finite element method. In order to accelerate computations, a graphics processing unit (GPU) was used and significant speed-up (2.61 fold) was achieved comparing to a central processing unit (CPU) based approach. These results...

FINITE GROUND CPW-FED UWB ANTENNA OVER THE METALLIC CYLINDRICAL SURFACES
PublikacjaThe investigation of finite ground coplanar fed ultra-wideband (UWB) antenna and the influence of its curvature and the proximity of circular metallic screen on the reflection coefficients and radiation characteristics is presented. The antenna is composed of two circular coplanar strips which enclose slot aperture of similar shape and is designed on a thin and flexible substrate which allows its bending. The antenna configuration...

Finite element modelling of a historic church structure in the context of a masonry damage analysis
PublikacjaThe paper includes a case study of modelling a real historic church using the finite element method (FEM) based on laser scans of its geometry. The main goal of the study was the analysis of the causes of cracking and crushing of masonry walls. An FEM model of the structure has been defined in ABAQUS. A non-linear dynamic explicit analysis with material model including damage plasticity has been performed. A homogenization procedure...

Local Mesh Deformation for accelerated parametric studies based on the Finite Element Method
PublikacjaThis paper presents an approach for enhancing the efficiency of two-dimensional Finite Element Method analysis in parametric studies or optimisation process of microwave components. The new approach involves local mesh deformation applied near the elements that are modified during computations. Since in the proposed approach the topology of the mesh remains unchanged, a new mesh does not have to be generated from scratch when the...
