Biodegradable polymers for food packaging - factors influencing their degradation and certification types - a comprehensive review
PublicationIn the paper an overview of novel biodegradable polymers for food packaging can be found. The aim was to present factors influencing polymer degradation and biodegradation in various environments. It was noted that biodegradable polymers are imperfect alternative for classical polymers and its decomposition strongly depends on degradation environment.

Rediscovering Automatic Detection of Stuttering and Its Subclasses through Machine Learning—The Impact of Changing Deep Model Architecture and Amount of Data in the Training Set
PublicationThis work deals with automatically detecting stuttering and its subclasses. An effective classification of stuttering along with its subclasses could find wide application in determining the severity of stuttering by speech therapists, preliminary patient diagnosis, and enabling communication with the previously mentioned voice assistants. The first part of this work provides an overview of examples of classical and deep learning...

Bioassays as one of the Green Chemistry tools for assessing environmental quality: A review
PublicationFor centuries, mankind has contributed to irreversible environmental changes, but due to the modern science of recent decades, scientists are able to assess the scale of this impact. The introduction of laws and standards to ensure environmental cleanliness requires comprehensive environmental monitoring, which should also meet the requirements of Green Chemistry. The broad spectrum of Green Chemistry principle applications should...

Generalization of Kramers-Krönig relations for evaluation of causality in power-law media
PublicationClassical Kramers-Krönig (K–K) relations connect real and imaginary parts of the frequency-domain response of a system. The K–K relations also hold between the logarithm of modulus and the argument of the response, e.g. between the attenuation and the phase shift of a solution to a wave-propagation problem. For square-integrable functions of frequency, the satisfaction of classical K–K relations implies causality in the time domain....

Study of Integer Spin S = 1 in the Polar Magnet β-Ni(IO3)2
PublicationPolar magnetic materials exhibiting appreciable asymmetric exchange interactions can potentially host new topological states of matter such as vortex-like spin textures; however, realizations have been mostly limited to half-integer spins due to rare numbers of integer spin systems with broken spatial inversion lattice symmetries. Here, we studied the structure and magnetic properties of the S = 1 integer spin polar magnet β-Ni(IO3)2...

Transformation of Energy Markets: Description, Modeling of Functioning Mechanisms and Determining Development Trends
PublicationOne of the key contemporary economic and social issues today is the global energy transition. Energy transition processes are having a significant impact on the development of world economies, increasing their TFP and leading to an increase in their level of innovation through the transfer of myriad new technologies. These processes also contribute to an increase in foreign direct investment and, consequently, an increase in the...

Constructive entanglement test from triangle inequality
PublicationWe derive a simple lower bound on the geometric measure of entanglement for mixed quantum states in the case of a general multipartite system. The main ingredient of the presented derivation is the triangle inequality applied to the root infidelity distance in the space of density matrices. The obtained bound leads to entanglement criteria with a straightforward interpretation. The proposed criteria provide an experimentally accessible,...

Measurements of relative frequency instability
PublicationFrequency constancy can be determined by the change in time for the subsequent periods. The article shows that classical the method of digital period measurement is not suitable for the measurement process. Therefore, a method using an integrating circuit is being proposed. Errors in the measurement of the given method have been analyzed.

The Boltzmann sequence-structure channel
PublicationWe rigorously study a channel that maps binary sequences to self-avoiding walks in the two-dimensional grid, inspired by a model of protein statistics. This channel, which we also call the Boltzmann sequence-structure channel, is characterized by a Boltzmann/Gibbs distribution with a free parameter corresponding to temperature. In our previous work, we verified experimentally that the channel capacity has a phase transition for...

Valence and lowest Rydberg electronic states of phenol investigated by synchrotron radiation and theoretical methods
PublicationWe present the experimental high-resolution vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) photoabsorption spectra of phenol covering for the first time the full 4.3–10.8 eV energy-range, with absolute cross sections determined. Theoretical calculations on the vertical excitation energies and oscillator strengths were performed using time-dependent density functional theory and the equation-of-motion coupled cluster method restricted to single and double...

Effect of pine impregnation and feed speed on sound level and cutting power in wood sawing
PublicationThe sound levels along with the cutting power registered during the sawing process of the impregnated and non-impregnated pine wood at two feed speeds are shown and compared in this paper. Statistically significant differences in the acoustic signals occurred at the lower feed rate. The differences became smaller with an increase in the feed speed. In contrast to the sound signal, the differences...

On the electronic structure of methyl butyrate and methyl valerate
PublicationWe present novel results of the analysis of the electronic structure of two aliphatic esters: methyl butyrate and methyl valerate. High-resolution photoabsorption spectra were collected and analyzed over the energy range 4.0–10.8 eV and showed for both the molecules not only a clear band of the HOMO to LUMO transition, but also vibronic structure associated with the first Rydberg-valence transition. Photoelectron spectra recorded...

PublicationQuantum calculations for the excitation of the asymmetric modes of the CF4 target gas, ν3 and ν4, by impact of low-energy electrons and positrons are carried out in the energy range around 1 eV and are compared with recent experimental findings. The similarities and differences between the two types of projectiles, and the two different modes, are analyzed and discussed vis à vis the present accord with the experimental results.

Analysis is based on a comparison with the results of other theoretical...

It combines isogeometric surface discretizations with classical Lagrange-based...

Searching by heterogeneous agents
PublicationIn this work we introduce and study a pursuit-evasion game in which the search is performed by heterogeneous entities. We incorporate heterogeneity into the classical edge search problem by considering edge-labeled graphs: once a search strategy initially assigns labels to the searchers, each searcher can be only present on an edge of its own label. We prove that this problem is not monotone even for trees and we give instances...

Data are present in the literature for similar values of reduced pressures, but for lower values of saturation temperature. This is due to the existing refrigeration applications of these working fluids. At high values of reduced pressure,...

Theoretical considerations were confirmed by simulation and experimental tests.
