  • 3D porous graphene-based structures- synthesis and applications
    Publication

Porous carbon-based materials are of the great industrial and academic interest due to their high surface area, low density, good electrical conductivity, chemical inertness and low cost of fabrication. Up to now, the main approach to obtain porous carbon structures has involved the pyrolysis of carbonaceous natural or synthetic precursors. After the isolation of graphene, the interest in 3D porous graphene-based structures (called...

    - EUROPEAN PHYSICAL JOURNAL D - Year 2015

Electron and positron scattering processes in the gas-phase are analysed for uracil and pyrimidine molecules using a multichannel quantum approach at energies close to threshold. The special effects on the scattering dynamics induced by the large dipole moments in both molecules on the spatial features of the continuum leptonic wavefunctions are here linked to the possible bound states of the Rydberg-like molecular anions or ‘positroned’...

    - Nature Communications - Year 2015

The Zintl concept is important in solid-state chemistry to explain how some compounds that combine electropositive and main group elements can be stable at formulas that at their simplest level do not make any sense. The electronegative elements in such compounds form a polyatomic electron-accepting molecule inside the solid, a ‘polyanion’, that fills its available energy states with electrons from the electropositive elements...

  • A spectroscopic study of the cis/trans-isomers of penta-2,4-dienoic acid attached to gold nanoclusters
    Publication

    - PHYSICAL CHEMISTRY CHEMICAL PHYSICS - Year 2015

In this theoretical work, we present a spectroscopic analysis of the cis/trans-isomers of a molecular switch, penta-2,4-dienoic acid, attached to gold clusters of different size (1, 2 and 20 gold atoms). We have simulated 4 different spectroscopic techniques: Infrared spectroscopy, normal Raman scattering, absorption spectra and resonance Raman scattering. We discuss how the position and the conformation of the molecule determine...

  • A study of the electronic states of pyrimidine by electron energy loss spectroscopy
    Publication

The electron energy loss spectra were measured in pyrimidine at the constant electron residual energy varied from 15 meV to 10 eV and in the scattering angle range 0–180°. The spectra were analysed applying an iteration fitting procedure to resolve the energy loss bands corresponding to excitation of the electronic states of pyrimidine. The vertical excitation energies of the singlet states of pyrimidine and of a number of the...

    - JOURNAL OF PHYSICS-CONDENSED MATTER - Year 2015

X-ray diffraction, specific heat, magnetic susceptibility and inelastic x-ray scattering measurements on the transurarium oxypnictides NpFeAsO and NpFeAsO0.85F0.15 are presented. No superconductivity down to 2 K was observed upon fluorine doping, contrary to the structurally analogous rare-earth pnictides. No modification of the phonon density of states was observed upon doping with fluorine. We discuss our results in light of...

  • A simple test for quantum channel capacity
    Publication

Based on state and channel isomorphism we point out that semidefiniteprogramming can be used as a quick test for nonzero one-way quantum channelcapacity. This can be achieved by searching for symmetric extensions of statesisomorphic to a given quantum channel. With this method we provide examplesof quantum channels that can lead to high entanglement transmission but stillhave zero one-way capacity, in particular, regions of symmetric...

  • A XAS study of a highly diluted Pt electrocatalyst operating in PEM fuel cells
    Publication

    - PHYSICAL CHEMISTRY CHEMICAL PHYSICS - Year 2009

We present an X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) study of a low Pt content catalyst layer(Pt loading 0.1 mg c2) operating at the cathode of a proton exchange membrane fuel cell(PEMFC). This catalyst is based on the use of a mesoporous inorganic matrix as a support forthe catalyst Pt nanoparticles. Due to the high Pt dilution, in situ measurements of itsstructural properties by XAS are challenging and suitable experimental strategies...

    - CHEMISTRY OF MATERIALS - Year 2009

Określono strukturę krystalograficzną nowego, nie-centrosymetrycznego nadprzewodzącego związku chemicznego, mg10ir19b16. Została zastosowana cała gama technik eksperymentalnych: dyfrakcja elektronowa, proszkowa dyfrakcja promieniowania rentgenowskiego, mikroskopia elektronowa wysokiej rozdzielczości, itd. Określenie struktury krystalograficznej było skrajnie trudne ponieważ jest to nowy, nieznany dotąd typ struktury krystalicznej,...

  • Acoustic streaming caused by some types of aperiodic sound. Buildup of acoustic streaming
    Publication

The analysis of streaming caused by aperiodic sound of different types (switched on at transducer sound or sound determined by initial conditions) is undertaken. The analysis bases on analytical governing equation for streaming Eulerian velocity, which is a result of decomposition of the hydrodynamic equations into acoustic and non-acoustic parts. Its driving force (of acoustic nature) represents a sum of two terms; one is the...

  • Absolute total cross-section measurements for electron collision with tetrahydrofuran

Zmierzono absolutny, całkowity przekrój czynny na rozpraszanie elektronów na drobinach tetrahydrofuranu (C4H8O) w zakresie energii zderzenia 1-370 eV. Otrzymane wyniki pozostają w dobrej zgodności z sumą obliczonych przekrojów elestycznych i jonizacyjnych. Przeprowadzono porównananie z innymi dostępnymi przekrojami czynnymi.

  • Abstract DNA-type systems
    Publication

    - NONLINEARITY - Year 2006
