The continuous X-ray radiography scans of granular material distribution, acquired during flow, were obtained by means of an especially designed model silo with rectangular bin and different settings of hopper angles. Image processing...

CAUSALITY IN MODELS OF THERMAL PROCESSES IN SHIP ENGINE ROOMS WITH THE USE OF BOND GRAPH (BG) METHOD
PublikacjaWith a single approach to modeling elements of different physical nature, the method of Bond Graph (BG) is particularly well suited for modeling energy systems consisting of mechanical, thermal, electrical and hydraulic elements that operate in the power system engine room. The paper refers to the earlier presented new concept of thermal process modeling using the BG method. The authors own suggestions for determining causality...

THE USE OF THE Ti-13Zr-13Nb ALLOY POWDER FOR MANUFACTURING OF PROSTHETIC PARTS BY SELECTIVE LASER MELTING
PublikacjaThe 3D printing is a manufacturing technique belonging to the additive methods able to prepare the designed parts for various purposes. The present reasearch was aimed to fabricate the prosthetic foundations and bridges made of the new Ti-13Zr-13Nb alloy by the selective laser melting (SLM) of a metal powder. The scanning electron examinations and micro scanning tomography were used to investigate the surface quality and intrinsic...

Experimental study of the use of electric car powered with stationary solar and electrochemical batteries in Northern Poland
PublikacjaThe subject of this paper is an experimental analysis of a Nissan LEAF electric car equipped with 24 kWh battery, powered from the standalone photo-voltaic (PV) charging station in Gdańsk, Poland. The calculations of charging process efficiency and range of test drives were conducted in two extreme situations (winter and summer) of sunlight and road conditions. Experiments were performed in the Laboratory of Innovative Power Technologies...

MULTI-CRITERIA COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF THE USE OF SUBTRACTIVE AND ADDITIVE TECHNOLOGIES IN THE MANUFACTURING OF OFFSHORE MACHINERY COMPONENTS
PublikacjaThe dynamic development of additive manufacturing technologies, especially over the last few years, has increased the range of possible industrial applications of 3D printed elements. This is a consequence of the distinct advantages of additive techniques, which include the possibility of improving the mechanical strength of products and shortening lead times. Offshore industry is one of these promising areas for the application...

Plasticity of Bead-On-Plate Welds Made with the Use of Stored Flux-Cored Wires for Offshore Applications
PublikacjaExtreme atmospheric conditions in the marine and offshore industry are harmful to engineering materials, especially to welded joints, and may cause degradation of their properties. This article presents the results of research on the plasticity of bead-on-plate welds made using two types of seamless, copper plated flux-cored wires. Before welding, spools with wire were stored for 1 month in two distinct locations with different...

Abuse or contamination? Ratio determination of clenbuterol enantiomers to distinguish between doping use and meat contamination
PublikacjaClenbuterol has been detected in urine of several athletes during routine doping control in the past years. Athletes claimed that the clenbuterol was ingested by eating contaminated meat. Providing analytical prove for this claim is difficult. clenbuterol consists of two enantiomers, R(-) and S(+)-clenbuterol. Currently available human and veterinary preparations were found to consist of a racemic mixture of both enantiomers. When...

Waste printer ink as modifier for natural rubber/carbon black composites: No haste, use waste
PublikacjaFrom a sustainability perspective, achieving a greener future with a minimal carbon footprint requires maximizing waste materials' reuse. The four pillars of satisfying customer demands are processing, price, properties, and performance. Along with such a global policy, this work seeks to utilize waste printer ink (WPI) as a source of carbon in combination with low- and high-surface carbon black (LCB and HCB, respectively) additives...
