Wytrzymałość pętli wplatanych na linach podwójnie plecionych

Wild oscillations in a nonlinear neuron model with resets: (II) Mixed-mode oscillations
PublikacjaThis work continues the analysis of complex dynamics in a class of bidimensional nonlinear hybrid dynamical systems with resets modeling neuronal voltage dynamics with adaptation and spike emission. We show that these models can generically display a form of mixed-mode oscillations (MMOs), which are trajectories featuring an alternation of small oscillations with spikes or bursts (multiple consecutive spikes). The mechanism by...

Firing map of an almost periodic input function
PublikacjaIn mathematical biology and the theory of electric networks the firing map of an integrate-and-fire system is a notion of importance. In order to prove useful properties of this map authors of previous papers assumed that the stimulus function f of the system ẋ = f(t,x) is continuous and usually periodic in the time variable. In this work we show that the required properties of the firing map for the simplified model ẋ = f(t) still...

The interactions of monomeric acridines and unsymmetrical bisacridines (UAs) with DNA duplexes: an insight provided by NMR and MD studies
PublikacjaMembers of a novel class of anticancer compounds, exhibiting high antitumor activity, i.e. the unsymmetrical bisacridines (UAs), consist of two heteroaromatic ring systems. One of the ring systems is an imidazoacridinone moiety, with the skeleton identical to the structural base of Symadex. The second one is a 1-nitroacridine moiety, hence it may be regarded as Nitracrine’s structural basis. These monoacridine units are connected...

Fourier transforms on Cantor sets: A study in non-Diophantine arithmetic and calculus
PublikacjaFractals equipped with intrinsic arithmetic lead to a natural definition of differentiation, integration, and complex structure. Applying the formalism to the problem of a Fourier transform on fractals we show that the resulting transform has all the required basic properties. As an example we discuss a sawtooth signal on the ternary middle-third Cantor set. The formalism works also for fractals that are not self-similar.

The comparison of the dispersion relations showed that the continuum model can capture the behavior...

Hybrid Technique for the EM Scattering Analysis with the Use of Ring Domain Decomposition
PublikacjaA hybrid technique combining finite-element and mode-matching methods for the analysis of scattering problems in open space is presented here. The discrete analysis, which is the most time- and memory-consuming, is limited here only to the close proximity...

Graphs with isolation number equal to one third of the order
PublikacjaA set D of vertices of a graph G is isolating if the set of vertices not in D and with no neighbor in D is independent. The isolation number of G, denoted by \iota(G) , is the minimum cardinality of an isolating set of G. It is known that \iota(G) \leq n/3 , if G is a connected graph of order n, , distinct from C_5 . The main result of this work is the characterisation of unicyclic and block graphs of order n with isolating number...

Minimum order of graphs with given coloring parameters
PublikacjaA complete k-coloring of a graph G=(V,E) is an assignment F: V -> {1,...,k} of colors to the vertices such that no two vertices of the same color are adjacent, and the union of any two color classes contains at least one edge. Three extensively investigated graph invariants related to complete colorings are the minimum and maximum number of colors in a complete coloring (chromatic number χ(G) and achromatic number ψ(G), respectively),...

Independence in uniform linear triangle-free hypergraphs
PublikacjaThe independence number a(H) of a hypergraph H is the maximum cardinality of a set of vertices of H that does not contain an edge of H. Generalizing Shearer’s classical lower bound on the independence number of triangle-free graphs Shearer (1991), and considerably improving recent results of Li and Zang (2006) and Chishti et al. (2014), we show a new lower bound for a(H) for an r-uniform linear triangle-free hypergraph H with r>=2.

Strategic balance in graphs
PublikacjaFor a given graph G, a nonempty subset S contained in V ( G ) is an alliance iff for each vertex v ∈ S there are at least as many vertices from the closed neighbourhood of v in S as in V ( G ) − S. A set S is a defensive alliance if and only if for...

Turán numbers for odd wheels
PublikacjaThe Turán number ex(n,G) is the maximum number of edges in any n-vertex graph that does not contain a subgraph isomorphic to G. A wheel W_n is a graph on n vertices obtained from a C_{n−1} by adding one vertex w and making w adjacent to all vertices of the C_{n−1}. We obtain two exact values for small wheels: ex(n,W_5)=\lfloor n^2/4+n/2\rfloor, ex(n,W_7)=\lfloor n^2/4+n/2+1 \rfloor. Given that ex(n,W_6) is already known, this...

Nowadays by a crystal we mean any solid having an essentially discrete diffraction diagram. It is because...
