Core loss resistance impact on sensorless speed control of an induction motor using hybrid adaptive sliding mode observer
PublicationInduction motors (IMs) experience power losses when a portion of the input power is converted to heat instead of driving the load. The combined effect of copper losses, core losses, and mechanical losses results in IM power losses. Unfortunately, the core losses in the motor, which have a considerable impact on its energy efficiency, are not taken into account by the generally employed dynamic model in the majority of the studies. Due...

Load-settlement characteristics of piles working in a group
PublicationLoad-settlement characteristic (Q-s) of an axially loaded pile can be empirically determined from a static pile load test or on the basis of calculations using, e.g. transfer functions or numerical methods (FEM). The transfer functions method usually rely on empirical data, i.e. the function parameters are determined on the basis of numerous pile test results. Thus this method takes into account pile installation technology and...

Non-Adaptive Rotor Speed Estimation of Induction Machine in an Adaptive Full-Order Observer
PublicationIn the sensorless control system of an induction machine, the rotor speed value is not measured but reconstructed by an observer structure. The rotor speed value can be reconstructed by the classical adaptive law with the integrator. The second approach, which is the main contribution of this paper, is the non-adaptive structure without an integrator.
