Analysis of Factors Influencing the Prices of Tourist Offers
PublicationTourism is a significant branch of many world economies. Many factors influence the volume of tourist traffic and the prices of trips. There are factors that clearly affect tourism, such as COVID-19. The paper describes the methods of machine learning and process mining that allow for assessing the impact of various factors (micro, mezzo and macro) on the prices of tourist offers. The methods were used on large sets of real data...

The Belt and Road Initiative and export variety: 1996–2019
PublicationThis study examines the association between the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and export variety (EV). We propose three hypotheses on how BRI may foster export markets (destinations) or export product lines. The estimates are based on a dataset constructed specifically for this analysis, covering 183 countries and linked with trade data from 1996 to 2019. We apply the instrumental variable (IV) approach in regressions for covering the...

MARKETING STRATEGY - SPACE AS A PRODUCT.ARCHITECTURE AS A MARKETING DEVICE.
PublicationSpace has its measurable financial value. From the economic point of view place can be treated as a product that fights for appearing in tourists' and investors' consciousnesses. Space - treated as the object of demand and supply - becomes an element in a marketing game. To reach its maximal value the given space should be competitive to other spaces, from which it wants to stand out. However, in the field of architecture - and...

A simplified method to assess the impact of ship-to-ship collision on the risk of tanker ship hull girder breaking accounting for the effect of ageing
PublicationOne of the most critical structural failures is the exceedance of the ship hull girder’s ultimate strength, which may result in hull breaking, and subsequent severe consequences, including loss of life and property as well as environmental damage in case of an oil spill. A cause for such loss of structural continuity can be triggered by a collision with another vessel. In addition, the ageing mechanisms of the hull structure could...
