Buckling of braced frames
PublicationIn this paper the classical Winter model, developed originally for columns is applied for frame structures and compared with the results of parametric study of frame with bracing. Sensitivity analysis of critical loads of frame due to bracing stiffness is carried out and the threshold bracing stiffness for full bracing is found. In the non-linear statical analysis the forces in bracings are calculated.

Acceleration of the discrete Green's function computations
PublicationResults of the acceleration of the 3-D discrete Green's function (DGF) computations on the multicore processor are presented. The code was developed in the multiple precision arithmetic with use of the OpenMP parallel programming interface. As a result, the speedup factor of three orders of magnitude compared to the previous implementation was obtained thus applicability of the DGF in FDTD simulations was significantly improved.

Application of Intelligent Conversational Agents in E-learing Environments
PublicationThe paper concerns intelligent tutoring systems and concentrates on apliaction of virtual mentors in distance learning environments. Different educational agent types are described. The prototype of an agent developed at Gdansk University of Technology is also presented, as well as its internal representation and construction. Benefits of virtual mentors applied in distance learning are also pointed out.

MEASUREMENT OF NOISE IN SUPERCAPACITORS
PublicationA developed method and measurement setup for measurement of noise generated in a supercapacitor is presented. The requirements for noise data recording are considered and correlated with working modes of supercapacitors. An example of results of low-frequency noise measurements in commercially available supercapacitors are presented. The ability of flicker noise measurements suggests that they can be used to assess quality of tested supercapacitors.

Efficient method for octahedral NH2-MIL-125 (Ti) synthesis: Fast and mild conditions
PublicationA new hot injection method for preparing octahedral NH2-MIL-125 (Ti) was developed. This method is six times faster and conducted under milder conditions, i.e., at 120°C in a flask, and exhibits higher crystal formation efficiency than the commonly used solvothermal method while maintaining comparable structural, optical, and photocatalytic properties.

Computational algorithm for the analysis of mechatronic systems with distributed parameter elements
PublicationThe paper presents a systematic computational package for analysis of complex systems composed of multiple lumped and distributed parameter subsystems. Possibilities of heat transfer augmentation in heat exchangers with minichannels for marine applications
PublicationIn the paper, new trends in development of microchannel heat exchangers are presented. The exchangers developed in this way can be applied in marine applications. Main attention was focused on heat exchangers design with reduced size of passages namely based on microchannels. Preparation of Pseudopeptides Building Blocks with Retro-Thioamide Bond Mediated via Thiocarbamoyl Meldrum's Acid
PublicationAn easy and efficient synthesis of pseudo tripeptide containing a thiomalonamide moiety was developed. Isothiocyanate derivatives of amino acids react smoothly with 2,2-dimethyl-1,3-dioxane-4,6-dione yielding new thiocarbamoyl Meldrum's acids. Stress analysis of the bridge hangers in terms of the fatigue verification
PublicationThe paper presents the results of numerical stress analysis of the bridge rod hangers. Two types of hangers were taken into account, i.e. the bolted hanger and the welded hanger. A detailed FEM shell models of the connection area between the hanger and the bridge span have been developed. PublicationA one-pot synthesis for the preparation of N-alkenyl-malonamides and N-alkenyl-thiomalonamides was developed. 5-[Hydroxy/mercapto(aryl/alkylamino)methylene]-2,2-dimethyl-1,3-dioxane-4,6-dione act as a source of ketenes that react with the tautomeric form of alkyl-(2-phenyl-propylidene)-amines. Determination of biogenic amines in beers by LC-MS/MS
PublicationAnalysis of biogenic amines in beers was carried out by HPLC-MS/MS after their derivatization with p-toluenesulfonyl chloride (tosyl chloride). The developed method has been applied for analysis of eighteen biogenic amines in twelve samples of different kind of beers (Lager, Strong Lager, Schwarzbier, Weizenbier, Pils, nonalcoholic Pils, Stout). The method is sensitive and the results precise for majority of the analytes.
