Air-sparged hydrocyclone (ASH) technology for cyanide recovery
PublicationPrzewoźną instalację wyposażoną w napowietrzane reaktory cyklonowe zbadano pod kątem przydatności w procesie ciągłego odpędzania i absorpcji HCN z kopalnianych wód procesowych. Zastosowanie reaktora cyklonowego pozwoliło na ponad 99% absorpcję HCN podczas jednego przejścia fazy gazowej przez reaktor. Natomiast uzyskana efektywność odpędzania HCN, zależna przede wszystkim od stałej Henry'ego, przekroczyła 40% dla jednego przejścia...

Analytical techniques used in monitoring of atmospheric air pollutants
PublicationW artykule opisano najczęściej spotykane zanieczyszczenia powietrza atmosferycznego, ich interakcje i wpływ na środowisko. Przedstawiono klasyfikację technik i metodyk stosowanych w badaniach zanieczyszczeń powietrza. Przeprowadzono przegląd technik pobierania i dozowania próbek gazowych. Zaprezentowano także przykłady typowych systemów służących do analizy zanieczyszczeń powietrza.

High Temperature Air Combustion and Gasification (HTAC; HTAG)
PublicationCombustion and gasification technology utilizing high-cycle regenerative air/steam preheater has drawn increased attention in many application areas. The process is to be realized at temperature level above ash melting point using highly preheated agent. The use of highly preheated media above 900oC provides additional energy in to conversion processes and results in considerable changes to the design of combustion and gasification...

A review on electrospun membranes for potential air filtration application
PublicationAir pollution is one of the major environmental concerns in most highly populated cities, which is typically caused by particulate (PM2.5 and PM0.1) or gaseous pollutants that can be removed using electrospun membranes. These membranes are characterized by different features in terms of uniform and controllable structure, tuneable porosity, and high surface area, where their separation efficiency strongly depends on their properties....

Embedded gas sensing setup for air samples analysis
PublicationThis paper describes a measurement setup (eNose) designed to analyze air samples containing various volatile organic compounds (VOCs). The setup utilizes a set of resistive gas sensors of divergent gas selectivity and sensitivity. Some of the applied sensors are commercially available and were proposed recently to reduce their consumed energy. The sensors detect various VOCs at sensitivities determined by metal oxide sensors’ technology...

Marine Fuel Sulphur Limit Impact on Air Pollution
PublicationThe article presents calculation of Sulphur oxides percentage drop rate in marine industry recorded after 01.01.2020 when new limits, provided by International Maritime Organizations legislation, became effective. Ships’ SOx global emission was estimated and compared between 4th quarter 2019 and 1st quarter 2020. For more accurate estimation 3 seaside cities with big harbors were selected for statistical analysis. Noticeable...

Combinated treatment of landfill leachates with wastewater in a sequencing batch reactor (SBR)
PublicationSanitary landfill leachates are treated usually by multistage systems using physical, chemical and biological processes. One of the most economic and efficient method is combined treatment of landfill leachates with municipal wastewater in a sequencing batch reactor (SBR. The main advantage of such co-treatment is that landfill leachates variability (in quality and quantity) do not influence the effectiveness of biological processes....

The influence of the temperature treatment method on the quality of French fries.
Open Research DataThe video presents instructional work on the temperature treatment of French fries and the assessment of oil changes during frying. The results of the measurements show that placing the fries in cold oil, heating them to the frying temperature compared to the conventional method of frying, reduces the amount of primary oxidation products and free fatty...

The process generation of WWTP models for optimization of activated sludge systems
PublicationThe objective of water and wastewater utilities, which are responsible for optimization of wastewater treatment plant operation, is threefold: environmental protection, saving money, and mitigation of pollutant emissions, both to water and air. The performed study aimed to assess the process generation of WWTP models that improve activated sludge systems operation, by means of new developed Mantis2 model. This model accounts for...
