Technical fabrics in costruction of large scale roofs - numerical and experimental aspects
PublicationDesigning and construction of textile hanging roofs is the challenging subject for engineers. This type of structure needs geometrically and very often also physically non-linear calculations. Due to different behaviour of two families of threads (warp and weft), which during deformation can change the angle between their directions, they require special constitutive modelling. Also the loading of hanging roofs is very special....

Source-related Wavefields in Fluids and Dielectrics: A new way of Thinking about Medium Dynamics
PublicationAcoustic and electromagnetic wave phenomena may seem to have a proper formal representation in field theory dating from the 19th century, founded on the mathematics of complex functions. This paper shows, however, that when replacing the classical spectrum-domain approach related to the assumption of harmonic timeform of signals, with a time-domain approach imposingnorestrictionastotheclassoftimeevolutionofsourceandfieldsignals,...

Regularized Identification of Time-Varying FIR Systems Based on Generalized Cross-Validation
PublicationA new regularization method is proposed and applied to identification of time-varying finite impulse response systems. We show, that by a careful design of the regularization constraint, one can improve estimation results, especially in the presence of strong measurement noise. We also show that the the most appropriate regularization gain can be found by direct optimization of the generalized cross-validation criterion.
