Computational fluid dynamics - lustres and shadows.
PublicationThe paper is devoted to the different aspects of CFD. The advantages of this concept are evident and obvious; powerfuk and effective tools bring this technology closer to the quantifiable world. However, certain weaknesses in this structure are apparent. Sometimes, a simplistic tendency towards simplifications and facilitations may degenerate and lead to negative behaviours and signs. These have not been serious up to date, but...

Using GPUs for Parallel Stencil Computations in Relativistic Hydrodynamic Simulation
PublicationThis paper explores the possibilities of using a GPU for complex 3D finite difference computation. We propose a new approach to this topic using surface memory and compare it with 3D stencil computations carried out via shared memory, which is currently considered to be the best approach. The case study was performed for the extensive computation of collisions between heavy nuclei in terms of relativistic hydrodynamics.

Purely quantum superadditivity of classical capacities of quantum multiple access channels
PublicationWe are studying classical capacities of quantum memoryless multiaccess channels in geometric terms and we are revealing a break of additivity of the Holevo-like capacity. This effect is a purely quantum mechanical one, since, as we point out, the capacity regions of all classical memoryless multiaccess channels are additive. It is the first such effect revealed in the field of classical information transmission via quantum channels.

Observations of presumable groundwater seepage occurrence in Puck Bay (the Baltic Sea)
PublicationWe report the results of recent field measurements of seawater thermohaline structure and transparency carried out in early summer 2014 in Puck Bay. Near-bottom, less saline waters occurred almost in the entire study area. Their occurrence in the shallow part of Puck Bay was accompanied by an increase in the seawater transparency. The most likely explanation of these observations is a submarine fresh groundwater discharge.
