Hybrid Model of Axially Moving Continua
PublikacjaThe paper introduces the method of the model reduction of systems that experience a Coriolis acceleration component. It causes that system equations are non-self-adjoined. To avoid such problem modal, reduced model is built up for the system without Coriolis acceleration terms which are next included by application of any lumping technique. Hence, the final reduced model is a hybrid one, obtained by both lumping and modal methods...

This kind of thermal self-action differs from that in a Newtonian fluid. Heating or cooling of a medium takes place due to transfer of internal vibrational energy. Equilibrium and non-equilibrium gases, which may be acoustically active, are considered. A beam in an acoustically active gas is self-focusing unlike...

Multichannel self-optimizing narrowband interference canceller
PublikacjaThe problem of cancellation of a nonstationary sinusoidal interference, acting at the output of an unknown multivariable linear stable plant, is considered. No reference signal is assumed to be available. The proposed feedback controller is a nontrivial extension of the SONIC (self-optimizing narrowband interference canceller) algorithm, developed earlier for single-input, single-output plants. The algorithm consists of two loops:...

The Determinants of False Self-Employment: A Survey of Polish Enterprises
PublikacjaThe main goal of this article is to advance the emergent research on tax evasion in Poland in the form of false self-employment (FSE), in particular to identify its causes. The dependent character of some self-employed workers is a big problem in the Polish economy, which has been completely unexplored because of the lack of available data. In this article, we use data from a survey of Polish companies. Our empirical results show...

Music Mood Visualization Using Self-Organizing Maps
PublikacjaDue to an increasing amount of music being made available in digital form in the Internet, an automatic organization of music is sought. The paper presents an approach to graphical representation of mood of songs based on Self-Organizing Maps. Parameters describing mood of music are proposed and calculated and then analyzed employing correlation with mood dimensions based on the Multidimensional Scaling. A map is created in which...

About Unusual Diffraction and Thermal Self-Action of Magnetosonic Beam
PublikacjaThe dynamics of slightly diverging two-dimensional beams whose direction forms a constant angle θ with the equilibrium straight magnetic strength is considered. The approximate dispersion relations and corresponding links which specify hydrodynamic perturbations in confined beams are derived. The study is dedicated to the diffraction of a magnetosonic beam and nonlinear thermal self-action of a beam in a thermoconducting gaseous plasma....

Online stores' credibility: the moderating role of customers' gender and self-efficacy
PublikacjaThe evaluation of online stores’ credibility by customers in regard of gender and self-efficacy is presented. Two groups of attributes, usability and informational content, were characteristics of credibility. The survey involved students as representatives of the largest group of the Internet users. As shown by the results obtained, the informational content of online stores (such as recommendations) and its professionalism was...

Self-Supervised Learning to Increase the Performance of Skin Lesion Classification
PublikacjaTo successfully train a deep neural network, a large amount of human-labeled data is required. Unfortunately, in many areas, collecting and labeling data is a difficult and tedious task. Several ways have been developed to mitigate the problem associated with the shortage of data, the most common of which is transfer learning. However, in many cases, the use of transfer learning as the only remedy is insufficient. In this study,...

Harmony Search for Self-configuration of Fault–Tolerant and Intelligent Grids
PublikacjaIn this paper, harmony search algorithms have been proposed to self-configuration of fault-tolerant grids for big data processing. Self-configuration of computer grids lies in the fact that new computer nodes are automatically configured by software agents and then integrated into the grid. A base node works due to several configuration parameters that define some aspects of data communications and energy power consumption. We...

Be fearless: Positive affect as a mediator between venturesomeness and self-efficacy in future entrepreneurs and managers
PublikacjaIntroduction and objectives Self-efficacy, personality and different affect states in entrepreneurs and managers are important factors for effectiveness and well-being. The aim of the study was to examine in young adults during entrepreneurship-related education, the relationships between venturesomeness and self-efficacy, and the mediating effects of positive affect and positive emotions (joviality, self-assurance, attentiveness)...

Thermal Self-Action Effects of Acoustic Beam in a Gas with Reversible or Irreversible Chemical Reaction
PublikacjaThermal self-action of acoustic beam in a gas where an exothermic chemical reaction takes place, is studied. This kind of thermal self-action differs from that in a newtonian fluid. In dependence on the type of a chemical reaction, reversible or not, heating or cooling of a medium occurs. A beam in the case of the irreversible reaction may be unusually self-focusing. The self-action effects relating to wave beams containing shock...

Calculation of self and mutual inductances of the switched reluctance machine mathematical model.
PublikacjaA mathematical model of the switched reluctance machine (SRM) in a drive system obtained using Lagrange's energy method and a method of calculation of self and mutual inductances of the SRM are presented in the paper. The self and mutual inductances are elements of Lagrange's function in generalised coordinates and have been calculated using the finite element method (FEM). Selected calculation results for the particular machine...

Elastic wave propapagation in diagnostics of self-drilling system of grouted anchors
PublikacjaThe paper presents an experimental investigation of elastic wave propagation in a self-drilling hollow bar system, which is commonly used in geotechnical industry as the element of grouted ground anchors and soil nails. The single self-drilling hollow bar and self-drilling system of two bars connected by a coupler were considered. Longitudinal waves were excited at one end of the bar and registered at both ends, by means of PZT...

Different aspects of women’s participation in self-employment with particular reference to the costs
PublikacjaOver the last twenty years a growing number of researchers have been interested in female entrepreneurship. It is wort noting that being a self-employed person, for certain women, is the only chance to participate actively in social and economic life. Women choose self-employment because of flexibility of schedule and family-related reasons. This study aims to increase knowledge about self-employment as one of multiple labor market...

Thermal self-action effects for acoustic beams containing fronts in a Maxwell relaxing fluid
PublikacjaThis paper examines the thermal self-action of acoustic beams in a Maxwell relaxing fluid. This type of thermal self-action differs from that in a Newtonian fluid and behaves differently depending on a ratio of sound period and time of thermodynamic relaxation. The self-action which relates to sound beams containing shock fronts is also discussed. In addition, stationary and non-stationary types of self-action are considered.
