PublikacjaImportant from mechanical point of view the Portevin–Le Chatelier serration phenomenon is being characterized by a complicated spectral profile. As a typical example of nonstationary processes it demands a special treatment allowing to follow the evolution of energy of stress fluctuations as a function of strain. The authors suggest the utilization of a compact system of quadratic transformations, known as Cohen class, as a technique...

Structural, physicochemical and anticancer study of Zn complexes with pyridyl-based thiazolyl-hydrazones
PublikacjaThiazolyl-hydrazones (THs) exhibit a wide spectrum of biological activity that can be enhanced by complexation with various metal ions. Zn(II) complexes with α-pyridine-1,3-TH ligands may represent an alternative to the standard platinum-based chemotherapeutics. In addition, they show photoluminescence properties and thus can be regarded as multifunctional materials. In this study, we synthesized and characterized three neutral...

Electronic States of Tris(bipyridine) Ruthenium(II) Complexes in Neat Solid Films Investigated by Electroabsorption Spectroscopy
PublikacjaWe present the electric field-induced absorption (electroabsorption, EA) spectra of the solid neat films of tris(bipyridine) Ru(II) complexes, which were recently functionalized in our group as photosensitizers in dye-sensitized solar cells, and we compare them with the results obtained for an archetypal [Ru(bpy)3]2+ ion (RBY). We argue that it is difficult to establish a unique set of molecular parameter values by discrete parametrization...

Experimental and calculated energies of core excitations are generally in good...

Hydration of amino acids: FTIR spectra and molecular dynamics studies
PublikacjaThe hydration of selected amino acids, alanine, glycine, proline, valine, isoleucine and phenylalanine, has been studied in aqueous solutions by means of FTIR spectra of HDO isotopically diluted in H2O. The difference spectra procedure and the chemometric method have been applied to remove the contribution of bulk water and thus to separate the spectra of solute-affected HDO. To support interpretation of obtained spectral results,...

On adaptive covariance and spectrum estimation of locally stationary multivariate processes
PublikacjaWhen estimating the correlation/spectral structure of a locally stationary process, one has to make two important decisions. First, one should choose the so-called estimation bandwidth, inversely proportional to the effective width of the local analysis window, in the way that complies with the degree of signal nonstationarity. Too small bandwidth may result in an excessive estimation bias, while too large bandwidth may cause excessive...

Further Developments of the Online Sound Restoration System for Digital Library Applications
PublikacjaNew signal processing algorithms were introduced to the online service for audio restoration available at the web address: www.youarchive.net. Missing or distorted audio samples are estimated using a specific implementation of the Jannsen interpolation method. The algorithm is based on the autoregressive model (AR) combined with the iterative complementation of signal samples. Since the interpolation algorithm is computationally...

Testing the impact of simplifications adopted in models describing wave loads on ship
PublikacjaThe wave-ship system in naval architecture is generally assumed to be a linear one. This allows for the computation of a transfer function of ship response to waves including wave loads on ship. The transfer function and the wave spectral density function enable the development of the stochastic process of wave loads on ship, corresponding to the irregular wave generating that loads. If the mathematical models of wave load transfer...

Tuning transfer function of fiber-optic Fabry-Pérot interferometer via introduction of birefringence in the cavity
PublikacjaThe study investigates the impact of birefringence exhibited by the cavity material of a fiber-optic Fabry-Pérot interferometer on its transfer function. The theoretical approach to analyze the effect of birefringence in the cavity of a plane Fabry-Pérot interferometer is described. The case of high- and low-finesse interferometer is investigated. It is shown that introduction of a birefringent medium of optimized parameters can...

Seven Different Lighting Conditions in Photogrammetric Studies of a 3D Urban Mock-Up
PublikacjaOne of the most important elements during photogrammetric studies is the appropriate lighting of the object or area under investigation. Nevertheless, the concept of “adequate lighting” is relative. Therefore, we have attempted, based on experimental proof of concept (technology readiness level—TRL3), to verify the impact of various types of lighting emitted by LED light sources for scene illumination and their direct influence...

Detection and time/frequency analysis of electric fields in the ground
PublikacjaThis paper sets out to detect and characterize electric fields in the ground (such as stray current fields) using a tandem time/frequency method of signal analysis. Results were obtained from investigations performed in the presence of a generated electric field with controlled variable characteristics, and in the presence of an electric field generated by a tramline. The analysis of measurement registers was performed using Short‐Time...

On the Handling of Outliers in the GNSS Time Series by Means of the Noise and Probability Analysis
PublikacjaThe data pre-analysis plays a significant role in the noise determination. The most important issue is to find an optimum criterion for outliers removal, since their existence can affect any further analysis. The noises in the GNSS time series are characterized by spectral index and amplitudes that can be determined with a few different methods. In this research, the Maximum Likelihood Estimation (MLE) was used. The noise amplitudes...

The modification allows to shorten the computational time by reducing the number of function calls. Moreover, both versions of the algorithms (standard and modified) have been tested for numerically defined functions obtained from spectral domain approach and field matching method. The tests have been performed for three simple microwave...

The results show that the mean difference between the reference measurements and estimated pulse rate values are about 2bpm. In the analysis of short...
