The Undisrupted Growth of the Airbnb Phenomenon between 2014–2020. The Touristification of European Cities before the COVID-19 Outbreak
PublicationAs a result of the Airbnb eruption, not only has the character of the short-term rental market been completely transformed, but the decades long growth in tourism has also been further accelerated. Therefore, due to the new demands of the tourism economy, the major shift in the usage of historic city centers occurred–the process of ‘touristification’, that results in the emergence of its new, unsustainable form. Despite the significance...

Kinedynamics of Spherical Wavefields in Fluid and Dielectric Continua
PublicationDistubances induced by physical sources in fluids or dielectrics maintain their primary character while propagating throughout either of these bi-dynamic continua. The paper defines and illustrates four sets of bi-fields based on four specific fundamental kinedynamic solutions to inhomogeneous wave equations related to quasi-point acoustic and electromagnetic sources.

Quadratic stochastic operators on Banach lattices
PublicationWe study the convergence of iterates of quadratic stochastic operators that are mean monotonic. They are defined on the convex set of probability measures concentrated on a weakly compact order interval S = [0, f] of a fixed Banach lattice F. We study their regularity and identify the limits of trajectories either as the “infimum” or “supremum” of the support of initial distributions.

Macromodels for efficient FEM simulations of waveguides and resonators
PublicationThis paper introduces a novel technique for enhancing the efficiency of the finite element method (FEM) by incorporating special modules, called macromodels, into the standard eigenvalue formulation. The number of unknowns in the separated macromodel subdomain can be significantly reduced by orthogonal projection, using the efficient nodal order reduction algorithm. The idea of macromodels implementation is demonstrated on a simple...

A remark on singular sets of vector bundle morphisms
PublicationIf characteristic classes for two vector bundles over the same base space do not coincide, then the bundles are not isomorphic. We give under rather common assumptions a lower bound on the topological dimension of the set of all points in the base over which a morphism between such bundles is not bijective. Moreover, we show that this set is topologically non-trivial.

Wireless LAN with noncooperative anonymous stations: QOS provisioning via war of attrition
PublicationMAC-layer QoS provision necessitates an admission scheme to grant a requested QoS notwithstanding subse-quent requests.
