Performance-driven yield optimization of high-frequency structures by kriging surrogates
PublikacjaUncertainty quantification is an important aspect of engineering design, as manufacturing toler-ances may affect the characteristics of the structure. Therefore, quantification of these effects is in-dispensable for adequate assessment of the design quality. Toward this end, statistical analysis is performed, for reliability reasons, using full-wave electromagnetic (EM) simulations. Still, the computational expenditures associated...

Ring thruster - a preliminary optimisation study
PublikacjaThe ring thruster is a new type of propeller, for which there is no experimental data to verify analytical design calculations. A significant feature of the ring thruster is the absence of a shaft. Propeller blades are mounted to the ring rotating inside the housing, which has the shape of a nozzle. For this reason the ring thruster is closest, with respect to both the construction and principle of operation, to the Kort nozzle...

It is shown that the phase of the reflection coefficient from the loading SRRs can be used for displacement sensing. The paper also proposes a differential version of the sensor that benefits from a higher sensitivity and reference zero, which is useful for alignment purposes. It is further shown that...

Miniaturized Dual-Band SIW-Based Bandpass Filters Using Open-Loop Ring Resonators
PublikacjaThis article presents two novel architectures of dual-band substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) bandpass filters (BPFs). Initially, two identical open-loop ring resonators (OLRRs) are coupled face-to-face on the top of the SIW cavity to realize a dual-band single-pole BPF. To obtain two-pole dual-band characteristics, two OLRRs resonant units are assembled horizontally within the top metal layer of the SIW, which is a technique...

Efficient and robust quadratures for isogeometric analysis: Reduced Gauss and Gauss–Greville rules
PublikacjaThis work proposes two efficient quadrature rules, reduced Gauss quadrature and Gauss–Greville quadrature, for isogeometric analysis. The rules are constructed to exactly integrate one-dimensional B-spline basis functions of degree p, and continuity class C^{p−k}, where k is the highest order of derivatives appearing in the Galerkin formulation of the problem under consideration. This is the same idea we utilized in Zou et al....

On Reduced-Cost Design-Oriented Constrained Surrogate Modeling of Antenna Structures
PublikacjaDesign of contemporary antenna structures heavily relies on full-wave electromagnetic (EM) simulation models. Such models are essential to ensure reliability of evaluating antenna characteristics, yet, they are computationally expensive and therefore unsuitable for handling tasks that require multiple analyses, e.g., parametric optimization. The cost issue can be alleviated by using fast surrogate models. Conventional data-driven...

Tailoring properties of reduced graphene oxide by oxygen plasma treatment
PublikacjaWe report an easily controllable, eco-friendly method for tailoring the properties of reduced graphene oxide (rGO) by means of oxygen plasma. The effect of oxygen plasma treatment time (1, 5 and 10 minutes) on the surface properties of rGO was evaluated. Physicochemical characterization using microscopic, spectroscopic and thermal techniques was performed. The results revealed that different oxygen-containing groups (e.g. carboxyl,...

Study of the effect of thermally reduced graphene oxide on the physical and mechanical properties of flexible polyurethane foams
PublikacjaFlexible polyurethane foams were obtained from a two-component system via the one-step method. The foams were modified with thermally reduced graphene oxide added in the amount equal to 0.25, 0.5 and 0.75 wt%. The morphology, static and dynamic properties, and thermal stability of modified foams were determined. The application of carbon filler resulted in the visible increase in the cell size, apparent density and rigidity of...

Ring Opening of Triflates Derived from Benzophospholan-3-one Oxides by Aryl Grignard Reagents as a Route to 2‑Ethynylphenyl(diaryl)phosphine Oxides
PublikacjaA new simple method for the synthesis of 2-ethynylphenyl(diaryl)phosphine oxides via ring opening of benzophosphol-3-yl triflates has been developed. This process occurs via nucleophilic attack of a Grignard reagent at the phosphorus center, which results in ring opening and cleavage of a leaving group. The reaction proceeds under mild conditions and, within 15−60 min, leads to a library of previously unavailable 2-ethynylphenylphosphine...

Fractographical quantitative analysis of EN-AW 2024 aluminum alloy after creep pre-strain and LCF loading
PublikacjaThis paper explores the applicability of a new damage parameter combining both fracture surface topography and loading features to estimate the fatigue lifetime under creep pre-strain and low-cycle fatigue loading. Fractures of EN-AW 2024 aluminum alloy caused by mixed creep and low-cycle fatigue loading are experimentally characterized and quantified via surface topography analysis. The specimens were preliminary damaged in a...

The effect of reduced pressure on carbon dioxide flow boiling heat transfer in minichannels
Publikacja. In the paper presented are the results of the study on the effect of reduced pressure on flow boiling heat transfer data in minichannels as well as conventional ones. That effect renders that most of heat transfer correlations fail to return appropriate results of predictions. Mostly they have been developed for the reduced pressures from the range 0.1-0.3. The special correction has been postulated to the in-house model of flow...

Thermal and Mechanical Properties of Microporous Polyurethanes Modified with Reduced Graphene Oxide
PublikacjaMicroporous polyurethanes (MPU) were modified by adding 0.25%–1.25 wt% of reduced graphene oxide (RGO). The materials were prepared without solvent via in situ polymerization. From a technological point of view, it is very important to obtain functional materials by using reacting compounds only. The thermal characteristics of obtained MPU were investigated using TGA, DSC, and DMA techniques. In comparison to nonmodified microporous...
